Autumn Shadows
Do you know Carnation Bay? Cloves like trees stand there in the meadows, great bitter green giants that cast endless shadows in autumn, bright sharp spicy stripes on the resin pearl mists of sweet myrrh that shimmer like dewdrops in the deep sun to soften the Bay dwellers. Underneath, do you see the nutmeg seeds tumbling in the warm spicy ginger roots? They soon troll under tiny blossoms to shepherd the Bay in the shade of cloves, in the haze that smells like Bayrum tree.
Then you see the tide moving inland, evening-red warm sandal cream, which washes over the flowers and roots in the mudflats, and soon blows away the myrrh mist, only the carnations can still be seen for hours, before they disappear in the balm, which only takes everything with it in the night, very quietly blurred on the horizon.
