"A Bulldog in the Atelier" fits this fragrance like a glove. A creamy mixture of patchouli and vanilla is the cuddly four-legged friend, while the artistic studio is embodied by rosy prospects. And there is no chaos, no bull in a china shop, but a relaxed melange of an animal's comforting aura and a slightly soapy floral fauna.

Teresa Helbig definitely gets on my radar with this delightful "chubby" scent. A Sunday afternoon signature without frills, with a clear direction and very delicious. Likeable, relaxed, sweet. Tame, but not without its own character. Just shy of boring. Nutmeg adds an earthy backbone. The bright rose geranium isn't really my thing, but here it serves as a counterbalance to the heavy gourmand giants, which is borderline genius!

Bottle: the content matters more here
Sillage: creamy self-confidence, delicate and voluminous
Longevity: 7-9 hours, leaning towards the latter

Conclusion: a cuddly-bulky rose giant. An 80-kilo lap dog!

Ah, if only I could like roses...
... then this fragrance could surely stay with me. But one thing right off the bat: This is truly a beautiful scent! In the heart note, geranium appears (I should have been warned), but it bravely hops around already in the top note. MrGaunt made a very apt comparison: Weleda Wild Rose Oil. That was my first association, yep, exactly. Which is not a bad thing. The fragrance never really turns up the volume; it remains a gentle companion from the first spray to the finale (for me, easily 12 hours). It is unisex, creates a pleasant aura, and envelops the body and soul like a favorite sweater. The rose retreats more and more during wear, the gentle Weleda aura of rose-camomile-coriander gives way to a pleasant vanilla-patchouli carpet that never becomes sweet or sticky. I settle down on this and feel lightly fragrant, yet not perfumed, carried, but not overwhelmed. If only I could like roses... then there would be something between us two... For rose lovers or Weleda users, you can't go wrong with a blind purchase!

The Spanish Bulldog in the Atelier is Not an Elephant in a China Shop
Not yet widely noticed are the creations of Teresa Helbig, a Spanish fashion designer.
Perhaps not for much longer, as a well-known online retailer in Bruchsal has now included them in their range. This could possibly increase attention in the fragrance community a bit.
I came across the scents once again in my favorite offline perfumery. And as always in search of new creations, I was introduced to the fragrances by Teresa Helbig. They come in a visually understated manner, with a clear straight bottle featuring a black cap and a white label with clear straight lettering. Completely unembellished, a bit like Helmut Lang. It appears subtly elegant, and I actually like that, but by now, I would prefer a bit more in terms of materials.
Now, I wasn't overly optimistic about the fact that a fashion designer was trying her hand in the fragrance area. However, my favorite perfumery usually doesn't bring in any 0815 scents. Moreover, the name piqued my curiosity and caused a slight grin, as I had to think of an elephant in a china shop. So it had to be a loud scent.

Far from it! The Bulldog is not loud at all!
It starts off quite spicy, in a way that I find hard to categorize. There is supposed to be pepper in it, but I don't smell it. The spiciness doesn't lean towards a slightly Christmassy direction, but rather has a somewhat herbal quality. At the same time, it strongly resembles the Weleda Wild Rose series (if anyone knows it). However, the spiciness quickly subsides, and the scent becomes noticeably softer, with the Weleda Wild Rose scent also receding. It is then dominated by musk, patchouli, and a hint of vanilla. There remains a very light floral undertone, but after a while, it is no longer distinctly identifiable as rosy. But the chamomile is present. And not just in the top note for me. Chamomile is a very distinctive scent component, and in my opinion, it is hard to confuse.
So you have a vanilla-patchouli-musk scent with a bit of chamomile and flowers. Sounds strange, but that's how it is.
It also sounds like sweetness and heaviness, but that's not the case at all. The combination is extremely balanced, not sweet, doesn't smell like a hippie pad, and is a bit powdery, thanks to the musk doing its job. Along with the chamomile. The development from that point on is not further pronounced. It lasts surprisingly long, but remains understated in the sillage.

The special thing about this scent is the balance and the way the components interact. It has a powderiness without being reminiscent of a powder box, it has a slightly earthy spiciness from the patchouli without evoking thoughts of incense sticks and flower power, and the vanilla is elegant and dry, not sweet and sticky. With the chamomile in the background, this combination is a very distinctive fragrance composition, which surprised me and won me over on the second and third sniff, as I wasn't entirely convinced right after the spontaneous purchase. The scent is gentle and absolutely suitable for work and everyday wear. It may lean slightly feminine, but I wouldn't label it as a women's fragrance. It is also suitable for year-round wear, perhaps not necessarily in the height of summer.

Teresa Helbig, or the perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu, has created a very beautiful scent here that will appeal to fans of gentle fragrances. The Bulldog is definitely an enrichment for the world of fragrances.

Note to self: in the future, the Great Dane stays home when I'm in the studio. It mixes rose geranium with vanilla super sweet!

Like a sofa blanket scented with perfume from days before, where the
(rather) royal poodle rolls around: warm, cozy, homey, wonderful!

The dog runs into a tire shop, exits through the back door to quickly pee in the garden, and then quickly disappears.

Friendly-sweet Great Dane girl munches on spicy cookies made with geraniums, lots of ginger & vanilla. Drinks chamomile tea without rose petals.

Bulldog-like, nutmeg and clove storm into my studio. Then they fade quickly, leaving behind a lame little vanilla. Strange.

Bright, crisp ginger/musk sharpness is quickly enveloped by sweet, loving, slightly powdery vanilla roses (geraniums).

This scent smells more like a home remedy for colds => chamomile is healthy, but please don't put it in perfume.

After a burst of coriander, a lovely mix of rose geranium, nutmeg, and vanilla takes over. Wear it, yes - buy it, probably not.
