a vDfG
Midnight is a very unusual scent that stands out from everything else I know. Similar to this or that ..., I can't think of anything to compare it to. It's not a fragrance that blows you away at first sniff, but rather leaves you feeling uncertain. I don't think it's one that polarizes extremely, like love it or hate it.
After the initial uncertainty, it piqued my curiosity simply because it is so different.
I believe it would be the right scent to cure a fragrance fatigue that occasionally arises with perfume lovers, because it operates so far removed from everything else that wafts around you.
The first impression for me was greenish-resinous and also fruity-bitter, as already mentioned in the statement.
I had an association with it, but I didn't realize it right away. But now I know, it reminds me of Fernet Branca. Yes, Fernet Branca with a hint of marigold added.
The slight bitter note at the beginning fades away after a while, and over the hours it moves more towards pine needle and spirit, but in a refined way.
It's not necessarily a scent that makes you shout right away, "I need to have this," but it's certainly one that stays in your memory and that you might recall when you're tired of everything else.
And then there's the truly enormous longevity and the really good sillage. I find that totally positive because I hate it when you scent yourself at home with something nice and by the time you arrive at your favorite bar or wherever, you no longer smell like anything.
In that respect, Midnight is almost at Interlude level, so a vDfG (a lot of scent for the money) and that's a good thing, because if I want it subtle, I can just apply less, the decision is thus up to me.
I really like Midnight, and when everything else bores me, I will get myself a bottle of it. Many thanks to Angua for enabling this test for me.
