A Reunion with Pastel Oud

I remember it clearly. It was 2022 in the Galeries Lafayette in Paris. I was just browsing when my eyes suddenly fell on Pastel Oud. I sprayed it on, smelled it, and was instantly enchanted. That moment has etched itself deeply into my memory.

Months went by, and the scent just wouldn’t let me go. It kept coming to mind: that warm, dark, slightly smoky impression. A few months ago, I thought of it again and started searching. I wanted to find at least a tester, but it was nowhere to be found. Only on the official website of The Merchant of Venice.

Now I finally have it back in my hands. I sincerely thank Nikmarbo, my reliable Souk partner.

This is how I perceive the scent: smoky, leathery, with noble woods and a dark, warm plum note. It feels aromatic, noble, and mystical. I’m usually not a fan of lavender in fragrances because it often smells too medicinal, but here it is perfectly executed and gives the scent an elegant freshness.

According to the website, Pastel Oud contains an oud accord, not real oud. Therefore, it is 0% animalistic, but clean, velvety, and incredibly refined.
