More niche does not go

This perfume is everything I've been prepared for by trying niche fragrances.

You start with Freshies, slowly move on to Fougere/Orientals, stick to the French for a while (Lutens/Guerlain, even Roja, often Chypre/Amber), then several years with the good artists, but which you can still understand and wear (Nasomatto, Zoologist, Tauer) and which still most laymen find "beautiful".

After that came a phase for me, where I also needed SOMETHING in the collection, which "can do more".

Birch tar / burnt wood was exactly the note that I was looking for in perfection on the next level to the "what do you smell the again" - the compliment ever, if you want to smell "different".

Bois d'Ascese tries, but fails because it doesn't dare, and chokes quietly. Tauers Attar is too soft. A City on Fire is very close, but the sweetness in the background annoys me. So does by the fireplace. These are attempts to deliver "burnt" while still smelling "good".

No Perfume is exactly what I'm looking for. Art. (t-rex closely followed by Zoologist)

Tar without any roundness, smells really qie burnt wood. Aggressive, leathery, dark, heavy and hard to wear at first glance. Lasts for WEEKS and through multiple washes on clothes.

For true connoisseurs, an absolute revelation. Such a stark statement in public, you certainly have to deal with people even complaining.

I love this fragrance and am still in the process of building a circle of friends where I get to wear this as my signature.

Or will continue to enjoy the fact that I always get to sit near the window and occasionally get a compliment from a smoke lover

It took me several tries, I wasn't sure if 'No Perfume' was just crass and interesting or wearable. But now that I've owned it for a few weeks, I'm sure it's the latter. A slightly tarter, softer T-Rex without being tame, a more exciting version of CDG's 'Black'. I love the scent, I've even gotten compliments on it.
I can understand your background very well, mine is very similar. The question remains: what can come next?

Excellent observed and also still class written down! I can only confirm that, actually also with all the fragrances mentioned. How predictable is this hobby actually? 😂

Wonderful!
On niche you have to be prepared step by step, exactly. I don't have that scent here unfortunately, but Birch Tar I have come to love. And the T-Rex is subba ❤

@whadelse89 CdG black is super freaky, but just on my skin only licorice. The Other I must probably try.

It's a nice one, as is the Hyde, 1805 and CdG Black.

Yes, you can't do much more than that, it's already direct and without much fuss

I can't get over myself....
I don't know the scent, still enjoyed reading. You have so accurately chronicled your nasal journey. A pleasure to read. Now about the circle of friends...
I had to laugh about that. Building a circle of friends based on signature scent...that's the final stage. Ever.
Now I know what to expect at the end of the fragrance rainbow. And I can relate. By the way...I'm not allowed in the marital bed with By Fireplace anymore. We've come that far.
