Playful chocolate
Marketed as "just delicious", this one is another trendy fragrance (released in 2011) uniting several popular aromas: luscious chocolate, strawberry and champagne. Pleasant and playful, this one is a nice scent for young girls. Fades away fast. A similar fragrance was launched by La Perla earlier in 2011: "Divina".

Ulricke Jokiel's Worst Nightmare
'Can modern, sporty women really afford to eat chocolate?' was one of the questions that deeply moved Germans in the late 80s. But then a young woman with layered perm smiled at the camera on her way from the tennis court and openly admitted: 'My name is Ulricke Jokiel (actually 'Ulricke', not 'Ulrike') - so I really love to eat chocolate.' And then - the nation held its breath - without the slightest hint of shame, she added: 'I even get up at night sometimes to get some.'

That yogurt chocolate has pretty much the same amount of sugar and calories as 'real' chocolate (and doesn't even taste half as good) probably didn't matter much to Ferrero and the fans of those oddly pink-wrapped bars with the microscopically small freeze-dried strawberry pieces in the ointment-like yogurt-sour mass back then. After all, Yogurette was 'heavenly yogurt-light' - and would Ulricke Jokiel otherwise stop just for the 'Reporter' and hold her pretty little face up to the camera?

I already find the combination of strawberries and chocolate terrible in chocolate bars. No one who has reached a reproducible age should wear strawberry as a fragrance note. Pronounced chocolate scents - not just 'cocoa', but really gourmand-chocolatey sweet - I also find difficult on adults. And who, please, wants to smell like Yogurette - except maybe Ulricke Jokiel, who by now must be around fifty and hopefully no longer qualifies for chocolate-strawberry scents.

Charm Kiss is astonishingly one-dimensional. Champagne in the top note - oh please! - where? Strawberry - not the aroma of fresh fruits, but that extracted in underground factories from wood chips, which is also commonly used to flavor cheap fruit yogurts - meets cocoa substitute. Screechy sugar dominates the top, heart, and even the base note, if one wants to be generous and friendly enough to actually sniff the scent in phases. It might still work on an eleven-year-old - but everyone else should steer clear.

Conclusion: even Ulricke Jokiel doesn't deserve that!

First nibble like in "9 1/2 Weeks". Then coma.
Some time ago, I received a lovely sample of the brand new "Charm Kiss" at Dougi. So I tried it out. And I liked it so much and raved about it so much that, to my own surprise, I received it as a gift. And I was (gently) bitterly disappointed by the scent.

How come? I had tested the little perfume in a wild, chaotic mix with other scents. And I hadn’t even noticed that this candidate only truly shines for about an hour. Now I have a gift around my neck that I can only enjoy literally for a few hours.

Regarding the shining hour of "Charm Kiss": Yes, the name "Charm Kiss" does fit in a way. Sparkling champagne, sinful chocolate, and Hhhhhm-strawberries. All a bit like in
"9 1/2 Weeks", just without the noodles, without olives, and without chili. No, here it stays with sexy champagne, sexy strawberries, and sexy chocolate(-sauce). Very charming!

However, what comes next is like a sudden vomiting attack (sorry: throwing up attack) after the culinary sin. The total zero line. A miserable, mean full crash. A real coma. "Charm Kiss" fades so rapidly after about an hour that you could get really angry. You can hardly smell it anymore. And what you do smell is a flat, indistinct, one-dimensional something.

Mean!

A prime example of the annoying trend of fast-food fragrances for a very short moment. They only smell good long enough to make it to the checkout. That could really get me worked up.

Unfulfilled Champagne Dreams
Charm Kiss was once a gift I received and it was quickly passed on. Only a sample remained from the bottle, which I tested again in the last few days.

Champagne dreams are not realized here. Bathing in warm bubbly water, listening to beautiful music, and sipping champagne - then applying this fragrance after the bath and the day is perfect. This is surely the marketing gimmick of Thomas Sabo. But this perfume is not only a joke, but also quite a cheeky affront to the consumer. A lot of money is demanded for a meaningless water that seems to be stretched only by alcohol. Added to that is a very biting note of strawberry, which reminds me a lot of cheap strawberry yogurt. The scent comes across as cardboard-like and plastic from the very first contact. The biting strawberry note deepens more and more as the fragrance gradually approaches the wearer. With the very high alcoholic note, I almost feel nauseous. Can you really charge money for such a joke? Nothing here is bubbling, nothing here can convey a nice feeling that you are wearing a perfume that combines champagne with delicious chocolate. In the background, a very light note of sweet chocolate appears, which, however, quickly slips into bitterness. Nothing here seems noble or elegant. Rather, it feels forced. Like a false smile from a woman who only has plastic surgery in mind and spreads herself with her well-fed backside on her husband's millions, whom she doesn't even love.

All of this is over in not even an hour and a half. Charm Kiss slips off the wearer and falls with a hard thud into the dark cellar. Only emptiness remains and a feeling of "being deceived." Can this really be it, one wonders. Yes, it is! It doesn't help to bury oneself in the skin, hoping that the scent will transform into something positive. Even though the biting strawberry was bothersome, I always thought to give it a chance and wait. Maybe something good would come - but it didn't. Nothing comes.

I'm not a big fan of Thomas Sabo anyway, but his fragrances are the measure of all evil. Excuse my language: but this perfume deserves an Oscar for the worst that has come to market in recent years. Abysmally bad is the perfect description here. How this man can sleep peacefully and offer his customers something like this remains a mystery to me. I would be ashamed to put my name on this product.

The bottle itself is quite okay, but not much more. It matches its contents.
Meaningless and boring.

A devastating verdict from me and a sorry to those who wear it. But I cannot and will not be enthusiastic about something that only pretends to be good. And this for a lot of money! You can get miles better and not feel like a plastic woman.

Too Little Attention
I really don't understand why this fragrance receives so little attention.

It is truly a successful gourmand blend with floral undertones.

Certainly, the scent is not a game changer, but it is a really nice everyday fragrance and in a higher concentration, it would certainly be suitable for the evening as well.

The fragrance pyramid pretty much reflects what you can actually sniff out.

Sweet, but not too sweet, it starts off slightly fruity (the described strawberry smells more like cherry on my skin!)-chocolatey, and in the base, there remains a bitter chocolate note, like dark chocolate.
The whole thing is rounded off by a floral touch, which I unfortunately cannot assign to the corresponding plant due to lack of knowledge.

In my opinion, it is wearable for women of all ages and for any occasion.

Like my predecessors, I have to point out the longevity. You really have to reapply often.

Uh, had too much strawberry sparkling wine yesterday, today only chocolate goes in the stomach. What smells so unwashed here? Smells like a hangover feels! Ugh...

Champagne is bubbling away
Sweet, creamy, and unfortunately quite synthetic (but not scratchy)

Does anyone have a sparkling wine vibe? Starts with fermented strawberry sparkling wine, followed by synthetic fruit puree, musk/sandalwood, slightly creamy. Fades, sillage weak.

Starts with champagne and moves to chocolate. Strawberry is dipped in chocolate. The fizz is always in my nose.

Strawberries, chocolate, champagne. That's exactly how it smells. Super sweet and great for, like, teen girls. It accompanied me back then :)

Matured like fine wine. I really like it. Creamy, slightly chocolaty, vanilla, and fruity. The alcohol has probably evaporated.
