Diving Headfirst into the Harbor Basin
Even at the risk of seeming ungrateful, I will write nothing good about this fragrance. The name should have prepared me for the olfactory horror, but since the previously tested scents had performed well on my skin, I was rather trusting. Mistake, a big mistake.

Vormar develops exactly that strange, salty-aquatic note that I simply cannot stand. A musty freshness, like one can perceive at any harbor on the North Sea. I exude the peculiar mist of a person who has jumped headfirst into the chlorinated, brackish water of the harbor basin, only to wrap themselves in a towel treated with cheap fabric softener. Horrible!

Voramar is from the Transparencia series. Well, transparency smells different to me! This scent clings like tar to my skin, saturates the air around me, and simply refuses to weaken.

I don’t like it when men smell like this, and I especially don’t like to exude such a mist myself. Voramar is literally hitting me in the stomach, and I will now rid myself of this olfactory misery with oil and then with water and soap.

Sorry dear Flor, this one is an absolute fail for me!

May 3rd at the Cross Festival in Spain
Today I sprayed Voramar, the 8th of my Ramón Monegal test fragrances, and suddenly I found myself transported back to Almuñécar in the province of Granada, on May 3rd, 1993! On this day, Spain celebrates the “Fiesta de las Cruces” - the Cross Festival. Various groups decorate crosses together, and at the end, the most beautiful cross is awarded and announced in the local newspaper with an article and picture. As with all Spanish festivals, there is of course plenty to eat - from sour to spicy to sweet - and naturally, the “Fino,” the dry sherry, well chilled, must not be missing.

So, just the right festivity for me! There was fish and seafood in all varieties, delicious sweet pastries, and 0.5-liter bottles of tasty Fino, well chilled, of course. In the end, I was stuffed and only devoted to the Fino. One bottle after another - well, not quite that excessive, but I managed to have 5. With the last bottle in one hand and my husband in the other, we headed to the beach around midnight because I wanted to see the sea.

And it was very impressive! It was a full moon, and it shone brightly on the waves, which were quite high that night and crashed foamy and roaring onto the beach. Oh how I love that sound… Well, it occurred to me (what doesn’t one do under the influence of alcohol) to toast the moon. I kicked off my shoes, which my husband quickly retrieved before the sea could take them, and exclaimed, “Cheers, you moon you”…
Well, I can’t remember much more, but I clearly recall the scent that wafted from the sea. The dark beach, warmed by the sun during the day, emitted a dusty-earthy smell, washed over by foamy waves from a wonderfully fresh, slightly salty, and algae-scented sea, while the jasmine from the nearby gardens wafted beautifully, and my wine in hand contributed its special, bright, slightly chamomile-like scent with a fine citrus-fresh note.

Voramar smells exactly like that evening in my memory. Fresh and slightly salty, reminiscent of the sea, algae, fresh air, with a hint of dusty earth, fine chamomile, and a very light citrus freshness. I can’t stop sniffing at my wrist and would love to tie it to my nose to breathe it in constantly.

What a dreamily beautiful memory through a dreamily beautiful scent…
