oh Michel...
Michel Almairac is also the nose behind Secret Wish and Bottega Veneta. Both are fragrances that I particularly enjoy. With Summer of Love, he has achieved something impressive: he has managed to combine the two mentioned fragrances! At least, that's how I perceive it. What emerged is a beautiful connection of the veneta-typical medicinal spice with light leather undertones, paired with the sugary light fruit powderiness of Secret Wish. All of this is underpinned by a delicious, not too heavy gourmand note in the base, which somehow reminds me more of sunscreen than of unimaginative sticky sweets. Simply beautiful, the scent is round, likeable, cheeky, interesting, and tasty!
It is warmer and sweeter than the rather cool, mature Bottega Veneta, but without losing its distinctive refinement. It is deeper and richer than the cute, sparkling Secret Wish, but without losing its innocent lightness. Summer of Love combines for me, in an absolutely elegant way, the unattainable with the friendly. I know, that's a lot of adjectives, but I just can't describe it any better.
For those who are generally unsure about gourmands in summer, this could be a find, because Summer of Love is sweet and delicious, but not so heavy that it could overwhelm you in high temperatures.
Despite the name, the scent is definitely a typical autumn candidate for me, for cooler days when the sun suddenly shines golden and warm on your face, and you like to smile and momentarily remember the summer...
