Synthetic Ginger Overkill
The new women's fragrance from Tom Tailor is unfortunately a typical drugstore scent in disguise.
The fragrance pyramid doesn't look too uninteresting, and in the first few seconds, the scent comes across as nice and fresh due to the bergamot and ginger. Unfortunately, the former disappears after just a few moments, leaving behind a synthetic-seeming ginger note. After about 10 minutes, a diffuse floral scent reminiscent of room spray mixes in. We know by now, especially since Twilly d'Hermès, that ginger on top can turn a ladylike floral scent into a youthful, fresh, yet elegant affair in no time. But only if the quality is right. And that is not the case here. The base notes are hardly perceivable. Something woody with a lot of imagination, but still primarily a piercing artificial ginger smell. It somewhat reminds me of the scent that greets you when you enter certain bargain shops.
The fragrance is quite long-lasting, but the sillage is relatively close to the body... Luckily.
I can hardly imagine this release being successful. For most people, the scent will be too specific, and ginger fans will likely reach for something of higher quality instead.
