Phantom, also for the Opera
The rarities that I manage to find these days are becoming increasingly obscure. Neither "Armstrong" nor its manufacturer were known here before my research, no owner, no release year, no fragrance pyramid, and it seems there are no more OFs, only a few lonely and lost minis circulating in the fragrance universe, waiting to be discovered by an aficionado.
Based on the appearance and the bottle, I would estimate this fragrance to be from the early to mid-90s. The composition itself is quite ambitious and complex. Spice and beautifully integrated sweetness are noticeably present. Hence the "Opera" in the title, as it would certainly feel at home in such an environment.
It can also be "floral," this colleague. Stylistically, it somewhat leans towards a "Luciano Pavarotti" or one of the Delon fragrances, with less rose, before it ultimately runs out of steam.
Not a fragrance that will rock the perfume world; not necessarily a scent one must know, but a solid fragrance that glances lightly towards opulence, realizes it cannot quite reach it, and then settles for what it has and can, RIP.
