Milan, Magic, and Minutes Before Closing!

From Northern Germany to Milan - over 1,000 km for a fragrance… Sounds crazy? Maybe it was a bit. But those who love scents know: Some things you just have to do.

The drive started off relaxed. Good mood, good music, everything was going well. Until we reached Switzerland.
Customs control. It took a while but nothing too wild. At least we thought so: valuable time was lost. And then came the nerve-wracking part: construction sites, traffic lights, traffic jams. Somewhere between Zurich and “we're about to lose it,” nothing was moving anymore. The GPS became a party pooper - the arrival time kept rising.

But eventually: breakthrough. Clear road. Still, the pulse remained high. And then - Milan.
Five minutes before closing time.
The boutique: almost empty. One saleswoman who was still advising another customer and was internally already in her evening mode. And then us - barging in like lost souls on a fragrance mission.
She took it in stride.

And the fragrance Via Manzoni 20?
The first impression: impact. Brandy hits hard - warm, round, almost liqueur-like. And then this sweet note… I immediately thought of honey, even though it’s not officially listed in the fragrance pyramid. Maybe the Davana? Or cherry myrrh, who knows.
Definitely oriental - but with style. No oriental overkill, but Milanese catwalk. Elegant, special, yet still spicy and powerful.

This is not a scent for every day. And certainly not one you just buy on a whim. But that’s exactly what makes it special. It has character. It has presence. And above all: The Via Manzoni 20 is now part of my story!
And yes - every minute spent in traffic was worth it.

In this sense: Thank you for reading, your Yashar!

Wow, that must be true perfume love. I live near the Danish border and sometimes get annoyed by the stretch from the A7 to Hamburg. Thanks for the review.

I don't want to be a Karen, but my inner monk is screaming: I hope you drove an electric car, because otherwise I have little sympathy for wasting two tanks of gas just for a perfume.

I know enough people who fly to Ibiza for a party and come back the next day, or the regular commuters flying between Munich and Hamburg, so I'm a bit surprised that a drive to Milan is being looked at critically here...

...he said to someone who manages 2 gardens. All the scents were bought used. You're comparing a cigar and regular mail, which now mostly operates electronically, with 2 diesel tank fills that I personally burn for a perfume sample. That's simply irresponsible and ignorant.
Have you seen the new video by Harald Lesch? 😉

Well, 64 perfumes with ingredients from all over the world in the collection, plus a picture with a Cuban (?) cigar in your mouth. I don't think you need to educate anyone about their CO2 footprint.

@Andi136
The topic of climate change seems to be a foreign concept to you.

I think he was more concerned about the CO2 emissions ;) I'm going to Milan in a few days and will test it out. I actually wanted to buy 40nouds instead.

The whole story might sound crazy to some - but I just love driving. In the end, it was a really cool experience for me.
I wasn't alone on the trip, which made it even nicer - shared joy is double joy. And even an electric car wouldn't have been much cheaper in this case. My car has a large diesel tank, allowing me to cover over 1,000 kilometers with a steady driving style.
Many people only think about fuel costs - but the real cost driver is wear and tear. And an electric car has that too.
Plus, I compared prices beforehand: since I wanted to leave right away, a flight simply wouldn't have made sense - and it would have been significantly more expensive. Flexibility, spontaneity, and even cost savings clearly favored driving.
