Masculine Allrounder, beautifully complex opening
Complex opening, almost overwhelming, a bit of everything, bitter, dry citrus with plenty of peels and oils, complemented by beautiful, bright tobacco leaves and subtle, resinous smoky notes; the citrus is evenly divided between grapefruit and bergamot peels, with orange more in the background.
It has a hint of old-school men's fragrances in this opening, but its obvious complexity and high quality safely navigate through these associations.
After a few minutes, green notes become a bit more pronounced, sage and artemisia, along with allspice and fresh juniper, cedar and pine wood, fresh like a coniferous forest. Here it becomes somewhat "classic." Some of the more delicate notes like jasmine and petitgrain are hardly noticeable on me, maybe a hint of tuberose in the background to round it out.
After 1-1.5 hours and longer in the dry down, the classic remains, here bitter-masculine, dry-grassy patchouli, lots of woods and grassiness, a touch of light incense.
Overall, a classically masculine scent; in the opening, I had hoped it might take slightly more exciting paths. It also has some slightly sweaty notes in between. Quite nice, but nothing more.
