A dark, complex and deeply evocative fragrance
The fragrance immediately takes over with a big & unusual opening. Smoke leather is at the forefront, calling to mind worn armor and crackling bonfires. This is not a fine and polished leather but a rough & unpolished leather that hints at battles past where survival was key.
There is a clear metallic kick, or "rusty metal punch" as it has been called by the designer, that gives a sharp and jarring but also even interesting feel to the scent. Think of the scent of drawn swords, and of spilled blood.
As the fragrance begins to develop, the harsh opening calms to reveal a heart that surprisingly and warmly opens with an ingredient described as a warmth of Estus - a reference to an item in Dark Souls - that heals the player, presents a subtle, but almost ethereal sweet note. This is not a gourmand sweetness, but rather a resinous and ambery note that provides a glimmer of light in the darkness.
The dry-down of Bloody Mire is when the primal side of the scent is fully revealed. Deep dark woody base of heavy hardcore Oud and Red Sandalwood, builds a rich complex base to give the scent a dark and heavy foundation. An animalic note that is unapologetically animalic declares "horseback" and provides a dimension of wildness in addition to the woods and smokiness. This doesn't disappear throughout the fragrance's life it weaves in and out and through all of the more defined woods and animalic elements of Bloody Mire.
For fans of the Dark Souls series, this scent offers a unique and intimate way to connect with the game's world.
