Not quite blue
The first release from youtuber School of Scent (Omar) and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. I hadn't watched that many videos when I saw his kickstarter campaign which I decided not to support but later, out of curiosity decided to watch some of his content and I came around. He does know his perfumes so I went to support his campaign and I'm glad I did.

The fragrance has been often described as a 'blue fragrance' but to me it's greener, green with some blue hues perhaps? It does hit you with citrus and lavender up front and you get this gorgeous patchouli, eventually the citrus takes a backseat and you get the vetiver and galbanum plus some musk (I don't get the ambergris) but I just love the opening and how it evolves into something that even though it's not that ground breaking is certainly very special.

Performance is good, I get 8~9 hours, enough to make it through a workday and after that I get some whiffs now and then.

Great quality for a very decent and fair price, well done Omar!

Freshness With a Backbone
To my nose, the vetiver and gallbanum make themselves known quite early on, thus laying the foundation for this scent. Although musky and woody throughout, the woods give way to the lavender where I assume the freshness comes from. The level of freshness reminds me somewhat of Armani Code EDP, although this feels a bit more mature than Armani Code (shares a similar level of versatility with Armani Code). The musk, patchouli, and ambergris add a nice earthy richness. This lasts a good while as well, I'd say in the 7-9 hour range. This was a very timely release as I was looking for something woody yet fresh. Checked all the boxes for a fresh scent that could cut through the cold but could very well work in the spring. Very fair price as well. Well done!

Modern Barbershop
This is a modern version of an old school barbershop fragrance. It’s a sharp, citrusy, resinous scent. Very mature. It reminds me most of Eau Sauvage Parfum, but with an orange rind note instead of lemon peel, and no cinnamon or anise. This has a darker feel to the freshness than ESP, and I like it more. It’s very well blended/balanced. In the deep dry down the patchouli becomes much more noticeable, which I’m never a fan of, but this is a very pleasant, smooth patchouli. Performance is very strong, I can still smell it the next day.

It’s a good scent…
…but you've smelled it before. It’s a mixture of several popular designers, in my opinion. Nothing bad, but not groundbreaking either.

To be honest though, it’s a lot better than a lot of what is being pushed on YouTube lately. It will work as an everyday scent, and it’s ok as a year round scent as well.

It’s got a green feeling that’s rounded off nicely, and then it becomes softly sweet. I can’t put my finger on which scent(s) it reminds me of, but I KNOW I’ve smelled something that smells almost EXACTLY the same. It’s green but not a fougere, it’s sweet but not gourmand, nor is it spicy.

[EDIT: It has the drydown of Ultra Male, tamed down a hair, and some green notes added. THAT’S the familiar scent]

Performance is average; the projection is modest; with a 1-1.5ft bubble that stops pushing at the 2 hour mark. Sillage is also modest… it’s not leaving a chem trail that leads people to you, and longevity is actually pretty good, going 8 hours or so as a skin scent.

So it isn’t a failure, and it is not a rip off. Maybe $75 it would be a more worthy price of admission, but it’s much better than a lot of what’s on the hype wagon.

I’m cool with what I got, and I’ll wear it this summer. A small price adjustment, and many people would agree.

Opens up with a vetiver and lavender blast and mellows down soon after when you get some sweetness and creaminess. I'm liking it a lot!
