Hidden gwem
No idea if it is intentional, but this brand's owner - Oliver Babic - does a pretty good job staying under the radar. The brand had its fifteen minutes of fame when Sublime came out in 2015. Kudos to Cécile Zarokian. After that it got quiet pretty fast and it seemed that was the end of it. Until now, perhaps. I would say their latest work Gwen is good enough for a little revival.
Gwen has a soft floral-amber core with some clever nuances. It starts fresh-floral, gets a bit creamy, then powdery and woody-ambery in the end. There is a very distinct almond note from beginning to end, that brings it all really close to a gourmand. But the way the scent flows through these different floral, ambery and woody elements makes it more sophisticated than what you would expect from a gourmand.
In the end it does not really matter what label to put on it. Gourmand, amber, whatever. I had a really good time wearing this today. It offers a fun ride with some smooth turns that kept things interesting until the late drydown. And it is reasonably priced. Recommended if you can find it!
