No idea if it is intentional, but this brand's owner - Oliver Babic - does a pretty good job staying under the radar. The brand had its fifteen minutes of fame when "Sublime / Aura Sublime | Aura Perfume / Bijon" came out in 2015. Kudos to Cécile Zarokian. After that it got quiet pretty fast and it seemed that was the end of it. Until now, perhaps. I would say their latest work Gwen is good enough for a little revival.
Gwen has a soft floral-amber core with some clever nuances. It starts fresh-floral, gets a bit creamy, then powdery and woody-ambery in the end. There is a very distinct almond note from beginning to end, that brings it all really close to a gourmand. But the way the scent flows through these different floral, ambery and woody elements makes it more sophisticated than what you would expect from a gourmand.
In the end it does not really matter what label to put on it. Gourmand, amber, whatever. I had a really good time wearing this today. It offers a fun ride with some smooth turns that kept things interesting until the late drydown. And it is reasonably priced. Recommended if you can find it!
