Fruity Tuberose which feels unfinished
The scent opens up with lovely realistic Peach and immediately after that, tobacco wafts through the air. The scent seems really promising at this point. However, neither of those notes carry much further and is replaced by Tuberose, which is clearly the main character throughout the entire life cycle of the scent. You can sense a slight fruitiness from it, but it is no longer distinguishable as Peach.
When Tuberose is combined with fruits, I can't help but think of a few nicely executed scents: Amethyst Soul , Queen of Silk and Gold and this scent feels unfinished next to them. A dry, slightly sharp leather floats in the background and I don't like how the leather is implemented here. It feels somehow clinical and it ruins the fruity Tuberose. A dirty, animalic aroma is great when it is really well done and I think it is best achieved with Tuberose with Honey. Of course, that's not what we're looking for here, but for leather to work in this scent, it would need more of resinous texture and a sensual hint of Labdanum. However, this aspect is missing now.
Amber Shadow can be put in the same category as the aforementioned fragrances, but it lacks the complexity and rich, full aroma of Amethyst Soul and Queen of Silk . If you're looking for a simpler, fruity Tuberose, I would definitely choose Gold , where the fruity sweetness with Tuberose is really charming and beautiful. Of course, if you don't mind such a thick fruity tuberose and want something to balance it out, the leather note here will do the trick. Here leather slowly covers Tuberose but it never loose its sparkle even if the overall aroma turns out more unisex.
Despite the tobacco and leather, the scent doesn't lean towards masculine in any way. Those notes are not easily discernible after the first half hour but after 2 hours both of them gets stronger again. Amber Shadow projects and lasts well, but is not as strong as the aforementioned Creed and The Fragrance scents. Still, it might be too strong for hot weather or the office, where a better option is crowd pleasing Gold .
Edit: After writing the reviews of these two Avau fragrances (another one was Exotic Oud ), I couldn't help but think about the challenges that new houses face. It's really hard to win customers over if you don't offer something special, exceptional, and memorable. Neither of these two scents would make me consider buying them. There's nothing wrong with them per se, but there's nothing interesting about them either, unfortunately.
Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review.
