Test Drive: Solarschaum
My "search" for a suitable fig that might even make it into my collection continues... And although "James" by Rosie Jane definitely doesn't offend me - unlike many of its "fig" counterparts! - it still clearly falls short of making the cut...
"James" is a very green, sunny, and spring-fresh fragrance. Grassy and laid-back. Without a doubt a fig perfume - but never too cloying, sticky, or milky to ruin my day. Still, it has those typical components. However, they never steal the show, become intrusive, or too grassy-green-toxic. Initially very radiant and sun-drenched (is that what is meant by "solar note"? Or "rain accord" despite the sunniness?!), then everything becomes woodier, more forest floor-like. The pyramid fits well. Perhaps due to the coconut proximity, it feels "more doable" for me. Still, it's far from where I would say "This is how I want to smell throughout the day!". But for fig fans, it’s definitely a recommendation to test.
Bottle: bland... but minimalistically functional
Sillage: never a star
Longevity: 5-7 hours is quite alright for a fig.
Conclusion: first bright, then earthier, always fig... Essentially quite pleasant. And if a "fig hater" says that, it must mean something...
