Window open, 200 euros out, window closed!
And in small bills, then the effect is better! Overall, the scent costs 269 euros and apple pieces. Well, the remaining 69 bucks might still be worth it, because it’s not bad. While testing (and I have tested it a few times, under the motto: There must be something to a scent for 269 bucks) I kept wondering what this Classic 33 reminds me of.
A somewhat short-winded Poison? Nope! Habanita light? Thinking. Nope! Then it hit me like scales falling from my eyes. Angélique Noire by Guerlain. A razor-sharp dupe!
Angelica root plays the leading role at the start. The coriander adds a slightly sweet-sour roasted pork spice.
The difference comes in the heart. Here, a huge tassel throws in a whole truckload of sweet rose powder. Powder, powder, powder, for which all the roses of the Orient must have served.
The gentle woodiness in the base is overwhelmed by heaps of vanilla and tonka sweetness.
It lasts on me like glue and has a room-filling sillage that gets stronger by the minute.
Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they would easily part with 269 bucks for this. I would rather reach for Angélique Noir, which is more elegant and subtle. Bottle? It’s a matter of taste. I think it looks like a spaceship from the Star Wars fleet. Maybe Chewbacca is the co-pilot? Who knows!
