All that glitters isn’t gold
In the bottle, this perfume is an opaque sea of golden liquid.
Unusual, and I have to admit to being slightly apprehensive before spraying because I sure didn’t want to end up like a Glitter Diva for the next week of so (you know how hard these pesky particles are to get rid of) … anyway, my fear was unfounded because absolutely nothing remains on the skin.
Odd.
In any case, I have now learnt that those particles are very finely ground mother of pearl.
Not gold.
Nice touch, but rather pointless in the grand scheme of things.

Like most Ylang and vanilla fragrances, this one is sensual and sweet.
There is a strong touch of peach and, as Martine says, “Fruit of the Loom”.
This lends the composition a quirky gourmand edge, reminiscent of bubble gum or fruity shampoo.
It’s a shame because it cheapens an otherwise pricey perfume.
Overall it's ok. Just.
Nothing spectacular, and very linear.
I expected more from such lush-looking nectar.

Doth mine nose deceive me or is that a smell-alike in that gold-laden fancy bottle? :)
Ever since its release, I wanted so badly to try Ylang in Gold. I don’t know why it took me so long to test it; a reason for it might have been that I was afraid to want such an expensive perfume. Every time I fall in love with a perfume which sells for several hundred dollars a bottle, I curse fate for bringing me such loveliness that I cannot afford let alone justify buying it. Trying this on my skin, however, has been a positive and a negative experience, both aspects from which I will benefit. Negative aspect: I loved it at first sniff. This automatically puts it in the category of “Too Expensive”. Positive aspect: It's two fold... Firstly, it’s simply too gorgeous for words! Without looking at any of the notes, I get a fruity opening followed by a trace of Ylang Ylang. Secondly, about 30 minutes into the drydown, I get fruity, powdery Vanilla pudding with less-than-dominant Ylang Ylang with tremendous sillage and longevity. In short, I get an ever-so-slightly fruitier version of Hanae Mori (Parfum version.) If I was asked to blindly smell and identify this on my skin, I’d say “Hanae Mori Parfum” without hesitation. Are the ingredients more expensive/pure/rare/loftier/so much more uber-awesome than the mass marketed Hanae Mori? I’m sure of it. Does that make any difference as far as the end result? No. And that, folks, is the BEST news. I get to keep my beloved Hanae Mori and several hundred dollars in my pocket. For those of you who would like to buy this but cannot afford it, seek out a sample of this. If you like it, go purchase the pocket-friendlier Hanae Mori Parfum version (Pink Butterfly). It’s essentially the same thing.

Silky smooth banana custard
Ylang in Gold is often cited as a ylang soliflore but, in truth, given that its pretty fruit custard aroma has been carefully sifted to remove the ‘uglier’ bits of ylang essential oil, it is more accurate to call it a rose-tinted glasses version. That said, Ylang in Gold’s slight lack of fidelity to the essential oil is probably the reason why I find myself so attracted to it.

What does it smell like? A thick, cinnamon-flecked Bird’s Custard poured over slices of greenish banana, coconut (hairy husk attached) and ripe yellow peaches in a crystal trifle bowl. It might be heavy were it not for the lift provided by a cream soda-like fizz woven into the fabric and a cottony musk in the basenotes.

Ylang in Gold is slightly tropical, but not in a cheap suntan and flipflops kind of way. In fact, it is more fruity-floral gourmand than beachy, and treads the same syrupy peaches and cream track I like so much in Burberry Woman (Burberry) and Casmir (Chopard), albeit with – and I hang my head in shame saying something like this – the kind of silky mouthfeel that speaks to a higher budget. The extenuated woody vanilla drydown is to die for. I don’t usually go for such obviously pretty, feminine fragrances but I am happy for this to be the exception.

Nice but done before
This is nice but it reminds me of an Agent Provocateur scent (the OG EDP and Miss AP) I used to wear in my 20’s. In fact to me it smells identical to those. It’s a very comforting, relaxing and powdery. I don’t get banana, coconut or vanilla. I can’t really identify any of the notes. My boyfriend’s take on this perfume is that it “smells of money”. He loves it and commented that it was stunning. It certainly does have an intoxicating quality, but since it’s not a new scent to me I’m not overly excited over this one. Still an 8/10 though

She Gets An " A" For Effort!
I had high expectations for this as I like others saw this came strongly recommended per YouTube fragrance influencers. So my thoughts are well....I don't detect vanilla at all. My nose picks up a fresh cotton like accord, layered with florals ( I think that's the Geranium flower in this I'm picking up). I also detect a sweetness. I can smell the Ylang Ylang and the Coconut but no vanilla as others have said they detect. Don't get me wrong its not an unpleasant scent, its just giving me more the scent vibes of high quality shampoo or pleasantly fragranced hair products not necessarily something I'd wanna wear as a perfume.

Coconut, milky ylang - very tropical feeling. I also smell bananas in here. Very good wear for summer.

Cleopatra takes her milk bath and nourishes her skin with honey and coconut oil. Ylang-ylang flowers are scattered throughout the royal bath

I was hoping for more. For me this scent is just ok. Smells very similar to some nice sun lotions and that's all.

A blast of ylang-ylang. Creamy and subtle. The vanilla is all across the board, making it a delicious scent.

I get baby wipes and a headache. I don't get any banana, creaminess, etc. until 3 hours in, which is not worth it. Bummer.

Luxuriously smooth, creamy and classy. Unique with a banana-like smell from the ylang but all notes are well-blended. Smells divine.

Warmer und eleganter, floral-cremiger Sommerduft. Mittlere Performance. Hat etwas „Erwachsenes“ an sich.

Schön fruchtiges, tropisches Opening. Wünschte dieses würde länger halten, trocknet zu einer recht generischen Vanille runter.
