Figs, Twigs, Honey
I fell in love with this scent immediately which is saying a lot since I had sampled about 20 other scents that day on a beautiful street filled with fragrance boutiques in LA. This is the one that haunted me later that night and into the next day. I still think of it as the first and finest introduction I've had to the genre of fig leave and tree scents. This scent fills me with the feeling of sun dappled leaves and twigs crunching under foot in the late Summer/ early Fall. This scent is very natural and yet bewitching to my nose, I definitely kept going back to smell my wrist and the lovely natural green leafy note, nutty fig wood (not the full sweet syrupy juicy fig fruit) is expertly blended with the golden honey, to create a swirl of angelic edible sauce. An exuberant trek through the secret forest, a chance sighting of a robust Doe grazing, momentarily free from the danger of the hunter's bow. Sweet green and edible life! This fragrance is not cloying or sickly sweet and I prefer it to L'Artisan's Premier Figuier Extreme and L'Occitane's Honey (Miel & Citron)- both of which have some common notes but fall short of Revelation's third eye opening revelation.

Essensschlacht im Wald
I was very pleased with this sample. The concept of this brand seemed really interesting to me. But unfortunately, this scent is just too authentic for my taste. There is indeed a difference between a fragrance that smells like a perfume that smells like xy and a scent that actually smells like xy. And the latter becomes a bit too much for me - at least when it comes to gourmand notes.

In the opening, I smell the forest. It has recently rained and the ground is still a bit damp. The roots are beautifully soaked with water and the leaves shine in a healthy green. It smells like the vibrant life of the forest after a heavy downpour.

So far... So good. I can definitely appreciate that!

But then I had to unpack my honey bread. And while I'm still sitting relaxed on a tree stump enjoying the fresh air, it suddenly hits me and I just slap the honey bread onto my chest and smear myself with the sticky stuff to my heart's content. Because... Because... Because that's exactly what happens. The honey here smells so authentic that it really feels like I’ve actually spilled honey on myself. Especially, this note lacks any transition. The forest scene is truly wonderful. It smells authentic, but the fragrance notes blend into each other. You don't smell each note separately, but together, as it should be with a perfume or when you’re actually standing in the middle of the forest. And then this sweet, melting, completely authentic - and therefore much too intrusive for me - honey pushes its way into the picture. It really feels like an accident to me and doesn't fit at all.

Sillage and longevity are rather poor. If you like the scent, you won't disturb anyone with it.

The question is simply what one expects here. I don't know any other fragrance from this brand, but "I hate perfumes" is the program here. Revelation should only be worn if you don't want to smell like perfume, but like forest and honey.

I'm usually not so sensitive to "difficult" fragrance notes. Cellar-mold-patchouli or civet bombs, oud heavyweights, church incense... None of that is a problem for me, but here I hit my limits. I wouldn't want to smell like I've spilled food on myself.

Fig leaf with honey and some cypress. Honey makes the woody-green notes tasty, without overloading with sweetness. Quite enjoyable!

Too green with sweet or too sweet with green. Almost like fermented juice or a damp meadow warmed up. Cloying and heavy. No go.

Nicely done, unexciting, definitely not a revelation. The Mediterranean garden smells similar. You can try it, but you don't have to. Say "coward"!
