Weird…But I Think I Like It?
It’s funny how differently we smell things. The reviewer before me called this “very fresh, fruity, slightly cool floral” and to me this is none of those things. What we do agree on is how pleasantly unusual it is.
It opens curiously medicinal (like a bergamot cough drop) before settling down into florals dominated by spicy carnations. The dry down is primarily oakmoss and new leather to my nose — I don’t pick up much in the way vetiver or woody notes.
Between the florals, leather, and ink notes, I was hoping this would smell like flowers pressed in a book — instead, the picture in my mind is of sitting in a retro laboratory with the windows open to the autumn air.
Projection starts in the higher end of moderate and then settles, and longevity is around 6 hours. For all the feminine coded florals in the notes, this is surprisingly a slightly masculine-leaning unisex fragrance.
My current obsession is finding a dark academia fragrance with leather and ink (next stop: Book of Shadows and The Raven ), and while this isn’t it, it’s an undeniably unusual and interesting fragrance.
