Well-named blend--fresh, rich, not too sharp
My first try of the 2023 quartet of releases from Frederico Parfums is Lemon Basil Fizz, an aptly-named effervescent beverage that has a great balance of the citrus and savory qualities of its namesake notes, over a mix of spices and woods, primarily. This is positively delightful, a rich yet well-balanced almost verbena-esque use of lemon with enough basil to give it flavor, shape, and some uniqueness. And it’s a little smoother / less acerbic than, say, Profumum Roma Acqua Viva, with its prominent lemon/cypress blend. LBF unsurprisingly has more of the aldehydic notes and basil in the opening, and it becomes more of a smooth lemon-led blend in the dry down. Overall, it’s really outstanding and performs very well.
Lemon Basil Fizz is parfum concentration and priced at $185 for 50ml, sold via the house website and via Perfumology in Philadelphia, which is where I got the discovery set, a convenient way to try the house’s five offerings with 2ml spray samples for just $35.
