Superbly innovative dry leather skin with resins and florals, sharp and intense but a smooth dry down
Sampling Frederico Parfums Silken Skin, which fittingly has a bit of that interesting leathery skin aspect, a bit sharp and powdery, but very smoothly blended. A floral center of jasmine and geranium blends superbly with the skin aspects of dry leather, oud, patchouli, vetiver, oakmoss, benzoin, and musk, really an excellent medley of notes that feels a bit harmonious in the dry down than in the comparatively sharp opening. I imagine that for some, the intensity of the opening may prove a bit difficult to navigate, but it frankly makes a lot more sense in the context of the dry down, with the evolution from the headier floral notes being favored to the dry, earthy, leathery, resinous, musky aspects being more in balance in the heart and base, and that’s where the skin aspect materializes more effectively for me, at least. What an experience, though!

Silken Skin is parfum concentration and priced at $225 for 50ml, sold via the house website and Perfumology. So it’s priced on the higher side of the house, but still apropos for its uniqueness and richness, a very strong performer that is nonetheless not obtrusive or overwrought. And for something that’s usually not in my wheelhouse, genre-wise, it’s really quite excellently done. I’d once again recommend getting the discovery pack from Perfumology to sample the line; I’ve still a couple more fragrances to sample from it, myself.
