Oh...wait...wow...what ??? Damn !!!!
I received the sample kit yesterday, first i tried intense cedrat boise (can someone tell me how to link a perfume in comment please) and felt in love immediatelly after the drydown. Then all the basics (intense red tobacco/french riviera/instant crush, etc.) and finally black line.

After letting the juice drying down i smelled heaven, litteraly. I didn't know the ingredients but i smelled a shy red rose, not pink, red,a twiest of salt and pepper with lighy wood base, very discret but so elegant and poetic. It's in the legacy of black oud by montale, but more harmonious and way better constructed.

Guys, if you want a rose fragrance very manly i would recommend black line, its good, its captivating, the only thing is the longevity which i found not so long (4hr on my skin)

i wish they would make an intense version of this one

Wow so underrated
Mancera darker fragrances nobody really talks about , and from what i experienced their dark fragrances are better than the fresher or sweeter style
Of their fragrances. I’m blown away! From black line , along with black prestigum, and even black to black . Black line has this undertone of a slight sweetness to go with this dark leathery slightly animalistic feel . It’s just beautiful to me. To my nose you can’t pick out one note, like it’s not obvious it’s a rosé fragrance or whatever it may be . You have to really dig your nose into it and pick out what your smell. This scent is very harmoniums to me

Acqua di Parma Oud in Women's Clothing!
As I delved deeper into Mancera today in the perfume store and came across Black Line, I thought:
"That can't be, you know this scent?!
Isn't this the same familiar Oud that you know from Acqua di Parma?"
No scent could possibly resemble the unique Acqua di Parma this much?!

I was completely mistaken, because after I sprayed my wrist with Black Line and returned home, there was not a trace left of my current Oud favorite.
No Oud, no leather, and no masculine notes at all. Just roses -
To be more precise, a true sea of roses!
Roses are indeed fragrant flowers, but for a man who usually wears smoky, leathery, or resinous scents, it's a real humiliation.
I felt as if I had been put in women's clothing and the door locked. Even after 12 hours, I still had the ballerinas on and could only gradually free myself from them.
I don't think I've ever been so deceived by a scent.

Not that Black Line is a bad fragrance, quite the opposite! The ingredients are of very high quality, but unfortunately not particularly well balanced, so one could say it is at least a unisex perfume.
For the most part, the roses dominate, and with a lot of imagination, you can still perceive the sandalwood somewhere in the background.
For 10-15 minutes, it retains its masculine Oud character, then the women's clothing is put on, and that's it!

For me, it's clearly a women's fragrance, even if one might initially think otherwise!

Edit: I need to correct myself a bit:
When I was stuffing my T-shirt into the washing machine today, a very pleasant scent cloud shot through my nose. I remembered that I had worn the T-shirt while testing Black Line three days ago, and suddenly I could perceive the Oud very strongly again, which had been pushed so far into the background by the sea of roses. I must say, that's top-notch!! Now Black Line is clearly more masculine again and, in my opinion, complements the mature roses perfectly! I'm no longer put off by the previous floral assault.
Black Line is truly something special, as it changes its scent nuances from masculine to feminine and back to masculine or unisex like a chameleon. Not many fragrances can achieve that!
I would probably still not want to wear it, maybe I'm just too conservative, but it is a truly noble rose-Oud and definitely unique!
Due to this realization and royal qualities, I must correct my rating to 80%.
Anything else would be quite unfair, and I don't want to be that way towards Mancera!

Dark...darker....darkest... Rose-wood...
...I ever smelled... Hidden in the depths was the "darkest" rose scent I have (so far) encountered.
Until a souk offer appeared, cautiously inquiring about the scent, asking if it was too sweet. Explicit denial. Response: "not sweet... dark... woody---"
I agreed to a purchase, with information from THIS PAGE I was very confident, along with the info from A., who was selling the scent, even sure, because A. had just smelled the fragrance herself and her judgment is reliable....
But even better than expected, the "Black Line" struck during the test.....
A wave of spices...from cardamom to pepper, from clove to coriander and who knows what else, briefly conceals the true nature of the fragrance from overly hasty and impatient noses that want to get straight to the point-.
And already can't wait for the top note to love a scent or immediately condemn it. (These "candidates" usually don't get to know the fragrance as a whole)
With this Mancera, it takes a few minutes of patience before dark red, rose ink
emerges and delights the nose.
Alongside are equally "inky" ingredients like patchouli and birch tar, "opaque" cistus and smoky elements.
Everything seems to creep in from deep, covered, and moonless night, overwhelming, touching, and shrouded in silence.
Only thoughts seem to flow over, silent, fascinating images from imaginative artistic hands.
Images of bizarre landscapes, gnarled trunks of ancient trees shaped as if wind-swept.
Dark and rich the colors, with a few, yet all the more striking red flowers as contrast.
The dark guaiac woods creak in thought, although no sound can be heard.
It is as if the buds of the purple roses opened with a quiet "pfffssst"...
to bloom and remain forever so, without wilting.
I have now entered this "landscape," and do not want to leave here anymore.
For perhaps the journey is still exciting until the true end of "Black Line"
I want to witness that until the possible dawn...

How this perfume got its own plane ticket!
This little gem unexpectedly and surprisingly came into my life. My boyfriend, a man of great taste himself and as we say here in Bavaria - a “Lachsgöschle” (meaning - a connoisseur who lives by the motto “If you buy cheap, you buy twice”), gifted me this magnificent scent for Christmas 2021. And what can I say - he knows me and my nose very well. It was love at first sniff.

I find it hard to describe this fragrance. It’s good leather - really good - not cheap leather with spices, amber, and wonderfully campfire-like sandalwood. But what stands out above all - it is super elegant and seems made for a freshly trimmed full beard. I love perfumes that last - that have power. And this scent has power - it is fully present for eight hours and intensifies again when you’re exercising or just walking faster. A little autumn/winter gem for me. It’s wonderful and surely fits perfectly for the cold spring on the island as well.

Then came that one Saturday in May 2022. We finally wanted to visit the island of Sylt again and were both really looking forward to a few days off in the rented holiday apartment. I still have my husband’s voice in my ear: Louie, please check your backpack for liquids before flying. I must have been in that classic “Yeah, yeah” mode, momentarily mentally absent - or just careless. The end of the story: A security check, a very irritable security man, and a bewildered Louie. The “Black Line” was actually in the backpack. Oh no! Immediate impulse: Defiance! What? I have to throw away this nearly 3/4 full gem? What? Seriously? NEVER!

My husband stood next to me: His eyebrows raised in disbelief. Yes, I can’t put it any other way: He hated me in those moments just as much as I hated myself.

The flight was supposed to start in 50 minutes. Oh man, what should I do? The security man was still annoyed but then said that I could check the bottle as luggage, but I had to hurry. It seems this only happens with “Swiss.” With my boyfriend quietly cursing, I then sheepishly walked to the counter - and my perfume got its own, very personal plane ticket for 14 francs.

The gem was supposed to arrive in Sylt with the luggage at the end of the flight. I didn’t believe that the padded envelope would withstand the rough handling of the baggage loaders and was very disappointed when the baggage carousel in Sylt was finally empty - and no gem in sight. Great. The gentlemen from the airport staff also reacted quite incredulously when I told them this story. It had never happened before, and I believe I was thought to be crazy.

But there is indeed a perfume god. A day later, the gem arrived with its owner in Sylt. The nice airport employee personally brought it to me at the holiday apartment. Incredible. YES!

“Black Line” and I are back together, my husband is still rolling his eyes at the story, and I guess I’ll empty my backpack five times before every trip now.

Just like Franz Beckenbauer: Good friends should not be separated - even if it sometimes costs 14 francs.

Rose, rose, rose with everything that is dirty and animalistic. Unisex: unbearable for men, triggers a flight reflex in women. Imho.
