GISSAH CAPRI I Oriental Freshie with Unique Character I Fresh, but Different...
Oriental fragrances have conquered the DACH region, and yes, people often hear about brands like Afnan, Armaf, Lattafa, and Co. However, the real hidden gems from the Emirates carry quite different names, and one of them is Gissah! A brand that has positively surprised me, but I will get to that shortly. Fresh means something a bit different in oriental terminology, and "Capri | Gissah / قصة" has proven that to me once again.
Now, let's get started with "Capri | Gissah / قصة":
- First of all, the packaging: it is simply amazing how much value you get in return for the money. The bottle comes in a high-quality box, and the bottle itself is already a feast for the eyes. Large, heavy, luxurious. The atomizer sprays really well; you have to be able to empty the 200ML somehow :) I will upload a picture of it later.
- Now to the scent. What do you get at the opening? A fresh ginger note that is really zesty. Very soon, maritime notes kick in at the opening, but don't be alarmed; not "40 Knots | XerJoff" similar, salty maritime notes, but like standing on a coast. The opening stays surprisingly fresh for a long time and is simply brilliant. Yes, you also gradually perceive a bit of apple.
- Slowly, sandalwood sneaks in; woody-light-silky and gives the initial freshness kick together with the patchouli a gradually lightly earthy kick; however, the freshness never really disappears completely...
- In the drydown comes what I consider magical; a beautiful combo of fresh-green vetiver and well-balanced incense is added; the scent takes the next twist and becomes oriental-fresh-aromatic. Wow!
- The performance is godly; the projection is still very strong after 5 hours and lasts a good 8-10 hours. The scent lasts extremely long; easily from morning until late evening, and even then, it is still well perceivable. A fresh scent that lasts so long? How is that possible? I don't know, probably the combination of incense, patchouli, etc.
In summary, a truly great, beautiful, and above all, performing freshie that really doesn't smell like anything else; very distinctive! One could say, very very very far away, that it is like Acqua di Giò Profumo Parfum on steroids, with more edges and corners... very many sharp edges and corners.
