Fresh-citrus with floral-creamy accents
I've been looking for an alternative to City of Stars by Louis Vuitton for a while now. I don't know the original, but I find the fragrance profile, including the pyramid, very interesting. I expected a really great summery combination, and I get that here with this Grandeur from Dubai. Here is the sub-brand Grandeur Elite. The brand is also known for the children's line Tubbees, which features many gourmand fragrances. In the Elite range, there are also alternatives to Afternoon Swim & Imagination. The City of Stars has not been a major hype fragrance so far, which is why alternatives are limited. Nevertheless, LV already has a good reputation and many buyers. So far, I tend to avoid the LV brand, as the sympathies are not really there, and I would be less inclined to visit the decadent boutiques for testing. However, the fragrances are quite good and created by a skilled perfumer with quality fragrance materials. Of course, with the price, you are also paying a lot for the name and the luxury.
I stumbled upon this fragrance by chance in a shop I trust. Naturally, the bottle, the packaging, and the name catch the eye immediately, so you can be sure of what this fragrance is an alternative to. It's practical, as you immediately know what you're dealing with.
The pyramid here is incorrect, as the listed pyramid actually refers to "Illusion | Grandeur Elite," which is, of course, a twin to Imagination. The pyramid was likely swapped at the manufacturer, and thus the correct pyramid is:
Bergamot, Lime, Orange, Mandarin
Tiaré, Neroli
Musk, Sandalwood
The opening is very fresh-fruity-citrusy with a lively citrus note from bergamot and lime. Quite juicy, also with a creamy Tiaré note that comes in early and makes the creation appear rather feminine for many. Mandarin and orange also contribute a wonderful fruity touch that spreads this great summer vibe. Neroli adds a lovely summery freshness and harmonizes well with this creamy-floral Tiaré. A good finish is provided by musk & sandalwood, creating a clean overall impression and a soft ending with these feel-good notes. Overall, the creation is harmonious, and the notes fit perfectly together. The highlight is, of course, this juicy-fruity-citrusy top note with the creamy Tiaré. The fragrance is perfect for summer and high heat, but it is also great as a freshie to wear throughout the rest of the year. As for the similarity to LV, I can't say much, but I would have imagined the City of Stars to smell like this Shooting Star. The fragrance has fully convinced me, and at just over €15, you really get a wonderful scent that spreads good vibes.
The performance is solid for a freshie, and the longevity easily offers 5-6 hours, with the juicy-fruity-creamy citrus top note radiating really well. Later, the fragrance becomes a bit closer to the skin, but it is still quite satisfying.
Overall, a fantastic fragrance that has completely convinced me, especially for this price. Just a safe blind buy if you can envision something under these notes and this fragrance combination.
