Bandarabas - well, what does it smell like...?
I’ll just start writing, as I usually do...
The opening excites me and should consist of at least bergamot and galbanum, and then a flower, or several (?) and already the first “hitch”: Damn, I need to take a quick look here and…oops…hyacinth…aha…nothing more, well then, let’s boldly continue with my feelings and to look and interpret based on the non-existent pyramid, there’s really nothing here anyway...
From the "hyacinth" (I honestly would have never guessed that), I don’t notice anything at first for the first few minutes, but that changes in no time. A tiny moment after the "super fresh" opening has settled a bit and the hyacinth blooms, I can already sense the base, which is sandalwood as I remember it from earlier sandalwood soaps with floral undertones. I would say a bit of vetiver and amber could also be in there for support, but it definitely has that soap scent base, there’s no way around that for my scent perception.
I am absolutely thrilled by this fragrance, and for me, it’s an all-rounder, a "go-to" and absolutely unisex, because despite the floral note, there can be no talk of sweetness - or what we often understand by that here. "Sandalwood-with-a-little-flower-soap-sweet" but definitely not in the sense of “synthetically sugary sweet” - certainly not. It’s also possible that a tiny lily of the valley has squeezed itself in, I would have guessed that based on the "soap similarity," but it could very well be just the hyacinth… I won’t lean too far out of the window on that one…
There’s not a big change in the further development, and I personally always find that quite nice. I know right after a few minutes what I’m dealing with for the rest of the day and don’t have to experience any potentially unpleasant surprises.
Speaking of the rest of the day:
The longevity for me is currently at 4 hours, and I absolutely don’t get the impression that this beautiful scent is running out of steam anytime soon, quite the opposite…so that’s already a good sign…
If you apply generously and spray your hair and clothes, I suspect a light and well-tolerable sillage, but I only dabbed properly for this test and think overall it’s more of a skin-close scent, but the train neighbor in the early morning will surely notice it ;-)
So that’s my perception, as a not-so-trained "nose" here, but I think it’s explained quite well and understandably, and I recommend, MUST TEST, anyone who loves 70s/80s sandalwood-floral scents like I do ;-)
