Mischevious posh lady
Betelgeuse opens with a burst of powder and a tangy, candy-like vibe—almost like those sour lollipop necklaces from childhood. It reminds me of L’Île Pourpre by Liquides Imaginaires, but far more powdery and without the creamy fig note.

As it settles, a synthetic coffee aroma emerges, blending with the powdery and acidic elements in an unusual way. While it’s not my style, I find it intriguingly feminine and slightly youthful. It paints a vivid picture: a young lady from an eminent British family in her twenties, dressed in lace, quietly bored by formal conversations, waiting for her chance to escape and create some mischief or to go drink some coffee with her leftist friends in the undercity.

This fragrance balances elegance with a playful, mischievous spirit, making it unique if not entirely wearable for me.

Mama goes out..
Right from the first spray, the scent felt familiar to me… but what is it?! It took a few minutes….

Betelgeuse starts off quite sweet. Osmanthus gives me a strong peach association. Like peach jam. Iris powders it all down and adds something noble.
After about 10 minutes, there are slightly herbal notes (is that coriander?!) and I definitely get very fluffy suede notes.
Leather is not listed, but it feels that way to me! Anyone else?? (I just read some other statements and reviews; I’m not alone).

This fluffy suede completely catches the sweetness of the osmanthus. And the scent simply gets a super noble and fine touch. Or also: something maternal, warming. And then it suddenly clicked: Mama smelled like this when she went out in the evenings or had something special planned. My sister and I were still little; but we both remember the beautiful scent that Mama left in the apartment.
I get Eve vibes or also Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum! Not a dupe, definitely not; just the same vibes.

Thank you for these beautiful memories. I got to know the scent through a traveling letter.

Gentle yet Strong
This fragrance has a lot to offer… Not only does it have an exciting and somehow unique progression - it is also gentle on one side and yet has real power - hard to describe…

In the opening, it is powdery-sweet - and it is here that this "gentle strength" reveals itself. Then it undergoes a transformation and becomes a peppery-spicy iris scent.
In the dry down, a certain smokiness is added, which then makes me "step out."

A pity - but still - the journey was exciting…

Green Leather has a Relationship with Gourmand Iris
Sounds strange? Yes, maybe, but it smells - at least to my nose - very nice.

According to Wikipedia, Betelgeuse is a star in the constellation Orion, whose name translates to 'The Hand of the Giantess.' Let's see what can be found in the hand of the giantess :)

Right after spraying, I get spicy leather with green notes. As it develops, iris and gourmand (sweet) notes come into play. I'm also quite sure that vanilla (although not listed) is included.
Aside from the iris, I don't consciously perceive any other note; however, I assume that osmanthus contributes to the sweetness and coffee provides the gourmand twist. Oakmoss could account for the green note and also help ensure that the fragrance doesn't become too sweet.

The scent reminds me a lot of Leather Shot by Olfactive Studio, which is probably why I have the leather association. I find Leather Shot very beautiful, but the scent was too intense for me and had immense longevity - when a perfume survives one to two hair washes, that's just too much for me.

Betelgeuse seems to be somewhat more moderate / restrained, which I find very positive - although I haven't sprayed the scent in my hair, so the claim of being 'more moderate / restrained' still needs to be proven.

Unfortunately, the very late drydown becomes generically woody, which is why there is a deduction in points.

Whatever: Those who enjoy sweet-spicy fragrances with a kick and a woody drydown should definitely test this one.

Iris with coffee, this scent is truly out of this world. Iris fans, you definitely don't have anything like this in your collection.

The coffee is said to be made from patchouli, but for me, it results in the finest leather in Bottega Veneta style, but more rugged, smoky, and unsweet.

Dark coffee aromas, finely spiced, dry-fruity with a floral touch and subtly grounded. So far, so nice, but somehow it lacks a punch. Ok.
