“Luxury” smells like wealth

Dana Buchman Luxury by Estee Lauder -The nose behind Luxury is Rodrigo Flores Roux.

I bought the 1.7 oz bottle years ago and wore it daily. I still have the original juice, too!

It is an elegant perfume seemingly made for a woman who has a bit of money—it literally smells rich.

It’s flexible—wears well anytime day or night. It’s definitely worth the purchase, especially nowadays because it’s very cheap compared to what I paid for it years ago.

Sometimes luxury is something very simple...

Dana Buchman was an upscale American fashion label, founded by Dana Buchman herself, and it belonged to the Liz Claiborne house. In 2008, Dana Buchman ceased production of her own high-priced label in favor of Kohl's Stores, for which she now exclusively produces.

Luxury - thus luxurious - was and is the first and only fragrance from Dana Buchman. A cylindrical glass bottle made of frosted glass with a plastic cap adorned with wave patterns. The fragrance itself is offered as perfume, i.e., Extrait.

Everyone has a different idea of luxury, something that is high-quality and not available to everyone. This is likely true for Luxury, as this fragrance is offered in Kohl's Stores and occasionally also on the bay. That’s where I also “fished” it out at a bargain price while searching for Dana perfumes. I have also seen it at an online perfume retailer. The original price is $55.

Luxury is a bright, delicate floral scent, primarily featuring jasmine and lily of the valley, which do not come across as "heavy," but rather very fine and buoyant, yet still quite long-lasting. The woody notes are not explicitly perceivable; however, they likely keep the flowers in check and take away the sharpness and strength they would otherwise display.

This is also what makes this fragrance luxurious. Nothing screaming or extremely loud, but still very well-presented, noble, and fine is offered by Luxury. I would characterize the scent as a clear, fine business fragrance, as the wearer of this fragrance is unlikely to offend anyone, but rather be perceived as very pleasantly fragrant.
