Exactly like a fall candle found on the shelves of a TJMaax
Day two of reviewing my travel size Le Monde Gourmand fragrances I got from Winners/Homesense. I've been seeing bottles of this brand on the shelves since forever, but never wanted to blind-buy a full bottle. I stumbled upon two discovery sets in travel size format at a reasonable price and this is what made me get them. I've always been curious to compare their price with their overall performance, so here we go!
Fall candle. Sweet, creamy, spicy with that distinctive plastic / synthetic candle note. That's how Chai Épicé smells to me. There's that distinctive candle note that's a bit plasticky and artificial which is what immediately turned me off from this perfume. It's not bad by any means, but if you've smelled Fall Cashmere (which I have a full bottle), then this one might smell a bit cheaper and more synthetic. There's a nuttiness there provided by the almond cream, a certain freshness and spiciness given by the ginger flower. I don't really get any sea salt, but I have a feeling this note adds to the freshness and maybe the artificial / candle-like accord I get from it. It stays creamy throughout which is comforting. There's not much more to say to it, apart from the fact I did get a bit more spiciness as time went on.
The functional aspect of this perfume is what unfortunately has turned me off from it. It's not bad and a good fragrance when you're just starting out, but I'm not there anymore. I do suggest you try it out before buying, as the artificial note I keep mentioning in my review may not be as prominent to some.
