Best in class rose patchouli musk.
Gorgeous and rich rose opening—blood red and luminous. There is a sweetness here that’s not quite dewy or jammy, but still fresh and alive—never soapy. Dry spices keep the sweetness and freshness perfectly in balance—there is not a stray note to be found here. As it dries, smoky resins and musky animalics join to extend the rose, along with some pitch perfect and crystal clean patchouli and woods to ground the scent and keep it close to earth. The overall effect is a fuzzy, musky, smoky, and floral masterpiece of supreme quality.
Truly masterful and elegant composition that plays with light and dark, fresh and rich, hope and despair. A nuanced alternative to POAL meets Antaeus—more rose-centric and without the piquant spices and forceful radiant throw of its loud patchouli and woods—this one is subtler, more contemplative, resinous, and intimate. A stunningly, almost woefully beautiful dark rose scent for brooding and sensitive aficionados. My favorite rose based scent to date. Bravo, Eugene!
