Set fire to the broken pieces ,start anew
Des Cendres spins a vivid narrative of rebirth and rejuvenation, akin to a phoenix rising from ashes. Birch tar ,mint and galbanum in the opening creates a cool ashy breeze accord. It's like a forest at dawn where the remnants of last night's fire blend seamlessly with the crispness of morning dew. This opening is not about the flames but the serenity and healing that follow, offering a sense of peace and a mysterious beauty found in the aftermath.
The heart of Des Cendres pulses with life ,a testament to nature's resilience. The green notes are deep and have this resinous quality that's just different and refreshing. Also there is a floral (tuberose) twist that's a bit unexpected making the whole thing feel more alive. The ashy vibe is still there joined by leather and violet leaf to support this "grey feeling".As Des Cendres settles, its base unfolds a sturdy foundation of bitter moss and musk that embodies the enduring spirit of the wilderness. The addition of hyraceum with its subtle animalic undertones highlights the leather and the green accords, animating the whole composition.Throughout this olfactory journey, the theme of ashes remains central, its all about the ashes after all.
Des Cendres is a reminder that after every hardship comes renewal. It's a nod to the past but with a clear eye on the future. Antoine Lie has managed here to capture the essence of recovery, making Des Cendres a testament to healing and hope.

P.S Can't wait to dive into the rest of the collection!

Green and smoky powerhouse
This is magnificent.

Green and smoky, and a definite tribute to 70s mens' powerhouse fragrances, this is a prime example of taking that DNA then updating and bettering it. The key here is both the high quality of the ingredients, and the intense, ashy birch tar core which gives it a serenity and emotional depth. It's leathery and animalic, aromatic, bitter, floral, mossy. Longevity is eternal, projection ferocious- two sprays at the absolute maximum is needed.

I loved this from the outset, and didn't even get a third of the way through my little sample vial before splurging on a full-sized bottle. An all-year rounder, except on the very hottest of days, there's something very compelling about this scent that demands unequivocal attention and devotion.

Luca Turin apparently recently wrote a scathing review of this but, frankly, what does he know? You'd think he was a perfume expert or something. I adore it, and it sits very comfortably in my top 5 favourite perfumes of all time.

Harmony in the silences of Nature.
Des Cendres is super elegant, comfortable and at the same time conveys the serenity of a countryside landscape waking up dewy and evolving into flowers that open before an afternoon in sepia tones.

Perhaps a distant relative of the vintage Polo Green and Naomi Goodsir’s equally elegant Bois D’Ascèse. Projection is moderate and lasts on the skin until the next morning.

The opening is green and fresh with galbanum taking center stage, aided by mint, which shines in an immense pine forest next to the glass water of a serene lake.
From afar, a fragrant and smoky breeze of burnt wood (pine and birch tar) reaches us.
Shortly after, soft and subtle floral notes appear, splashing an atmosphere of moss, musk and leather.
As we enter the forest we feel the animalic tone (hyraceum) which is subtle and never exaggerated. Vetiver and Patchouli give a subtle earthy vibe.

The olfactory journey is always made with the smell of burning aromatic plants from a field lost in the memory of our adolescence and accompanies us in a scene painted in greens, browns, violets and grays that connects us with the harmony of Nature's silences.

Just what we need right now.

A Beauty
Gorgeous green, floral, smokey fragrance - a nod to vintage styling, which I usually don't care for, but modernized. Crafted with some of best materials available by a perfumer who is really hitting his stride. After thousands of samples, you start to recognize fragrances that are instant purchases. This was one of those occasions - one wearing was enough to understand that this was truly worth its price.

I will say, from a personal perspective, the bottle design does leave a bit to be desired in the looks department.

green floral smell
Good green floral smell, with an almost sweet opening, I think mint and tuberose, at times a little bitter, then herbaceous green of galbanum, perhaps at times just a little smoky.

Buon odore floreale verde, con apertura quasi dolce, credo mint e tuberosa, a tratti un po' amaro, quindi verde erbaceo di galbano , forse a tratti appena fumoso

Des Cendres opens with green minty galbanum and ashy birch tar. Subtle florals, leather and moss. A vintage-inspired scent full of serenity.

This is impressive. Classic, masculine green scent with a sharp, dusty, ashy edge that keeps me coming back. Settles on traditional vetiver.

A peaceful fragrance. Earthy, green, and a bit ashy. I love it.

Opens with promising galbanum, mint & smoldering herbs, but halfway it deliberately ejects itself into abrasive manly man chemical oblivion

Powerful, astringent, piney, smoky. Yet, also warm and comforting. Quite similar to Polo Green, but I like this more.

Perhaps it was the hype on this one, but it disappointed me deeply with its cloying tertiary smoked leather jacket.

Pine, woods and ash. Very beautiful for older gentlemen (who loved the 70s masculines). Very high quality and great blend.

My new signature scent. So classy and wearable. However, If your nose isn’t accustomed to vintage-like fragrances, It might be a bit challenging
