That was in which century, the 16th or 17th century hmm, what do I imagine from that time, perhaps a merchant, with a white wig. At that time, gentlemen also perfumed themselves, but I cannot guess whether the compositions of that time resembled this elegant little water even remotely.

Uomo starts off very, to my delight, not unoriginally citrusy, despite bergamot and orange, no, it is spicy right from the beginning with cardamom and juniper, which gives it a somewhat muted, masculine herbaceous quality. I immediately smell fig leaf, so anyone who cannot warm up to it should better stay away.
In the course of the next few minutes, it becomes a very bright scent experience, through the change of the individual distinctly noticeable citrus and also floral notes, like jasmine, which makes it seem even more restrained and lovely, and the violet note, which I find is superbly dosed here, does not dominate.

In the drydown, the hesperidic notes typically fade away, and the lasting fig, iris, and violet leaf are joined by amber subtly with woody notes.
I must say it is very restrained, you really can't overdo it here, the top note does not sting the nose, over time I find it not too floral and it doesn't come across as strongly woody or ambery either, only fig leaf has the big appearance here, just not without the supporting actors.

I find the longevity average. However, I also like to spray double and triple on every spot, on me it lasts about 6-7 hours.
The sillage is very elegant, restrained, but not zero.

Compagnia delle Indie meant nothing to me before the purchase, and had I seen the above bottles beforehand, I would never have bought it, but since this bottle does not resemble those, as it is glassy, I am happy with the purchase. A great men's fragrance that even my wife likes, and she hardly likes any fragrance!
