Christmas Eve with Mr. Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli Essenza was under our Christmas tree this year.
I was very curious, as I only know the Her from the Cavalli house but not the original.

The first impression was very positive. The packaging may seem a bit cheap, but the bottle appears all the more noble and high-quality. Especially the cap is very well made.

Since I already liked the look, I generously doused my wrist with the perfume.
Tentatively, I smelled my wrist. It starts with a generous portion of bitter almond.
Yep, definitely bitter almond and very authentic! It really smells very elegant and not overloaded or too sweet. It truly resembles the bitter almond aroma used for baking. Just not as intense as the aroma, but a bit more delicate.
I quite like this beginning!!

Slowly but surely, the orange blossom joins the bitter almond. Bitter almond and orange blossom flow wonderfully into each other, like liquid gold. From there, the golden presentation of the perfume makes sense.
Neither bitter almond nor orange blossom competes for dominance with me. They simply go hand in hand towards the base.

Upon reaching the base, vanilla makes its presence known. However, it also does not want to take center stage but remains subtly in the background.

This scent accompanied me wonderfully during Christmas Eve.
It was not overly sweet, very elegant, and matched perfectly with the crème brûlée. But especially well, it complemented the golden decorations of the tree and the table :)
It held up bravely throughout the evening, and even the next morning, I could still faintly smell it. The longevity really surprised me positively!

I certainly enjoyed the gift! I probably won't wear it daily, as the sillage is quite pronounced, but on special occasions, I would love for it to accompany me.
Especially for fancier occasions! Although it would also work quite well for celebrations...

(And it reminds me more of Grain de Soleil by Fragonard)

The Almond Version of the Original
Cavalli Essenza is fundamentally very much based on the original "Roberto Cavalli," but this one has a noticeably stronger kick and, in my opinion, comes across as much more elegant.

The beginning is already distinctly powdery, although initially quite sweet and stuffy. However, this quickly dissipates, and I must also agree with Veri in her statement that there are certain similarities to P1. "Careful Hot" starts off the same way, but then becomes softer and gently leans towards the wearer with powdery kisses. The orange blossoms are clearly recognizable, and there is always a hint of subtle lemon scent accompanying it. Not in a way that it comes off as sour. The lemon scent is rather flatter and reminds one of a mild lemon cake that is more fluffy on the inside.

The heart of the fragrance is soon reached. Gourmand notes, a light powdery touch, set against a sea of orange blossoms, along with ripe almonds that rain down on all of this and blend with the mixture. It feels elegant, by no means girlish, as there is a sophistication at play that presents everything in a distinctly pleasant and mature manner. Vanilla also surrounds the spectacle. Soft, not too overwhelming, it reveals itself. It is a very well-meaning vanilla that comes across beautifully.

I really like almond and also like Careful Hot. This one is a notch more mature, richer, more elegant, and luxurious. Almond and powder dreams mixed together. That is Cavalli Essenza. Well done, I think, with the all too familiar bottle of the house. Not cheap stuff, but something quite fine.

Sillage and longevity are absolutely fine, and the fragrance lasts over 8 hours on me. Not the pinnacle of perfume artistry, but it is sufficient for feeling good. And how it does that!

Very authentic bitter almond note that runs like a common thread through the scent, subtly accompanied by orange blossom and vanilla. Elegant.

A scent of sensuality, creamy warm with elegant radiance, mostly suitable for winter - I find it irresistibly luxurious.

For those who don't know what to buy from Roberto Cavalli: better get Essenza instead of its older sister.

It can easily compete with the 80s-90s classics!

A truly wonderful scent. Even deeper and warmer than the original. Very elegant and not too sweet. I don't smell leather.

I smell a creamy, balsamic vanilla with patchouli & a waxy doll head undertone of orange blossoms & powder - divine!
