Counter cultural icon
This one grew on me. At first I was a little afraid as I was new to fragrance and a bit put off by the cumin (also it was a hot summer in Barcelona when I tried). A year later I tried again and fell in love. This has since become my favourite "fancy" scent. It's the only one I own that I wouldn't wear day to day and so keep for special occasions. I'm a very casual person so a white floral like this tends to be a bit over the top for my usual attire!

It's musky and a little sweaty from the costus and cumin, which I personally love. However it's absolutely not over the top, just quite sensual and keeps the florals grounded and a little closer to gender neutral (which is more to my taste).

The tiaré keeps it a tiny bit sweet and gives a taste of the tropical, but the grit beneath keeps it down to earth and sensual and in keeping to the scent story - about the queer, cross-dressing activist José Perez Ocaña who was a counter cultural icon in 1980s Barcelona.

This scent makes me feel quite powerful and mature, whilst also feeling a little "edgy" and different. I probably wouldn't have felt comfortable enough to wear it before my mid thirties (I was a late fragrance bloomer). In my top 5 so far.

"At Mischäll"/ Restaurant Review
Ah yes, ah yes. It's not easy.
That food prices have risen is no secret. We all suffer more or less! And of course, I had to find an appropriate way to deal with this misery. The solution came to me on Saturday in a half-sleep...and changed my life.
I will become a restaurant tester! For now, just on a freelance basis. Surely I can deduct the "professional costs" from my taxes?! Anyway, thought and done. Today, I went straight to the new Spanish hipster restaurant "At Mischäll," run by a creative yet notorious ingredient mixer. (Michael, Matze, or something...)
So here is my first restaurant review:
Excited and very hungry, I enter the trendy scene locale. Light brown velvet adorns the generous benches. And fur cushions invite you to lean back. How original. But it gets even better: Cumin-colored lamps spread warm-spicy light in the room and perfectly showcase the tobacco bowls
that are draped on side tables. Oh yes. Here, smokers are also lovingly considered, as they can roll cigarettes or stuff pipes with rather strong herbs. However, lighting up is prohibited, as the waiter, dressed appropriately in cumin-colored velvet, informs me. He is just passing by with a sharply fruity-smelling paprika pan that I might enjoy. Or could have enjoyed. When I ask about an alcoholic aperitif, he tells me that they only have freshly squeezed orange juice and promptly places a large glass of it in front of me on the table.
In general: The table decoration. You can hardly smell the flowers on the table; are they even real? The waiter refuses to give me any information on this. Well, a professional waiter simply knows how to convincingly feign the guest's unawareness. Respect.
I snuggle into the soft cumin glow in the fur cushions and dutifully drink my orange juice. I can't manage to order a paprika dish; I only smell it from afar. That has to suffice for now.
However, after a few rather uneventful hours, there is dessert. But unfortunately, it is not exactly innovative: "Cotton candy in an amber-colored cup" is the only dessert on the menu. At least it is "all you can eat" for hours. It might be worth mentioning that some cumin was sprinkled on top for decoration. I would rather not provide a detailed account of the first "operating bill" of my new job. Just so much; we are definitely in the upper price segment at "At Mischäll."
I can definitely say that I felt quite comfortable during my hours here and will probably return for several follow-up tests to form a comprehensive opinion and discuss how many stars I will give Mischäll. To be continued...
**
Scent: Cumin without a smoky aroma, soft and velvety, directly soothing, but also irritatingly appetizing... Along with a spicy tobacco scent and fur impressions. The sweet-sour orange scent counters this quite pleasant edible-animal warmth. I constantly waver between "Genius" and "Way too kitchen-spicy" and feel just a tiny bit reminded of "Santal Blush | Tom Ford," with whose turmeric spiciness I have already confused other people.
The sweet amber at the end is familiar to us all and is present here long and intensely alongside various residual animal notes. This is definitely an exciting scent that is fun to test and that I will definitely wear, as it provides me with a warm sense of well-being alongside a certain irritation...Conclusion: Why not just be a tasty girl/boy every now and then?
Thanks to everyone who shared. I'm curious about your opinions.

Sweet tiare with some dirtiness due to cumin, anyway very wearable. Resinous base. Joyful.

If you love heavy, heady Orange Blossom + Tuberose, it’s ok. For me headache inducing. Very generic blend but well done.

Here, tolerance is needed for the animalistic triad of costus, cumin, and musk, combined with sweet flowers.

Flowers with a kick, carrot seeds, cumin. A creative blend. Indian cuisine meets sophisticated white blooms. Maybe I'm the type for this.

It's hearty and robust. A delicious stew with cumin and fruity paprika simmers spicy, sweet-sour finished.*

A typical Matos. Animalic costus at its peak, cumin is bearable, but the narcotic flowers are something else. It evolves over time...

Orange blossom and tuberose dominate at first glance, but the dry-animalic note gives it character. Matos signature: yes.

A delicate hint of tuberose cream in the orange grove with Matos' signature. The subtle animalic note keeps the interest alive. Good.
