Niessen, Maria Clementine

The company "Niessen, Maria Clementine" was founded in Cologne and got registered in the company register on October 12, 1889 as "Maria Clementine Nießen" at the address "Unter Taschenmacher 13". The founder is said to have been the wife of Carl Anton Nießen, née Schäben. In 1894, the company advertised as "Niessen, Maria Clementine" at the address "Am Hof 26" in a Cologne address book.

Like the "Klosterfrau" company founded by Maria Clementine Martin, the Eau-de-Cologne- and melissa-spirit-manufacturer used the image of a nun as its logo and is also said to have based its choice of name "Maria Clementine" on the success of the Klosterfrau brand.

The company registration, ex officio, was canceled on March 15, 1933.
