Awhile back I got a sample of this that didn’t work for me,I wrote it off completely. fast forward a few years after I just swapped for a well aged bottle and MAN totally different experience! I think this just happened to be one of those that really benefited from a good aging. Most of the time I disregard aging and just slather oils on as soon as I get them and To be honest most of the time I don’t notice a huge difference between first wearing and months later. Vamp has a vintage oriental vibe for sure, the Spicy opium accord is what I notice first then I get that labdanum/incense resin leading into leather with finally, a bit of tonka adding sweetness. The silage is excellent for an oil. I highly recommend to Shalimar fans, it really does have that last dregs of your vintage bottle vibe. Those last few drops that are really potent, strong and deep. fantastic scent!

1920's Jazz Club...

To me this one reminds me a lot of either Shalimar by Guerlain or Habanita by Molinard. There is no mistaking that this is a perfume inspired by those two.

I get notes of a bitter citrus, but also orris root and a hint of tobacco. Labdanum and tonka also feature heavily. There is almost a leathery quality here which I like very much. I think the note of "Opium" here is a fantasy note but it is intriguing to smell. Very nice.

I would highly recommend this one from Alkemia perfumes because it smells like vintage Habanita or Shalimar parfum. Instead of paying a lot of money to get those two, or even something similar (like Musc Ravageur) I think this one is the closest you'll get to those three. A bittersweet, leathery oriental. Definitely one to have if you like that old, vintage style.

Vamp! Sounds black, dangerous, bloodthirsty.
Vamp could also be the certain femme fatale, black widow, seductress, and man-killing sexy woman.
So, the scent really doesn’t fit either of the two associations, even though I wish it did.
Vamp is dark, smoky-sweet. It somehow smells muffled. There’s nothing bright or intoxicating about it. I can only associate opium and labdanum with the original Opium from YSL, but otherwise, I would describe it more as a sweetish something. Tonka bean gives Vamp a bit of a soft and creamy touch, and the balsam then completely forces Vamp to the ground.
With a leather whip, from which fluffy, pink pom-poms hang, you give Vamp a little flick to bring some movement into it. But Vamp only twitches slightly and stays down until you’ve counted to 10. Vamp grabs your skin and practically crawls in. Musk is only barely detectable and wouldn’t have been missed if it had been completely left out.
Well, Vamp has evaporated. What sounded threatening and sexy turned out to be more like black soot that was blown away with a gust of wind.
You can wear it, no question. It just smells unspectacular to my nose. But for those who want something bright-dark and smoky-sweet, Vamp will surely appeal to them.
