Divorced Living In a Motel Room

I immediately felt a whole story with this one. It smells kinda old, like plastic on top of furniture and curtains that have dust and years of smoke in them. Stale, loneliness, cheap motels, fake flowers and wasted money. Those motels that havent been updated since the 90s and hold memories of people going through life. Its not a bad smell at all, just highly specific. Ill never learn can be interpreted in many ways with this profile- for me its getting by.

A dusty, vintage suede jacket

Pearfat not only does an amazing job at recreating very specific moments and memories from scent alone, but also making things extremely realistic. This is exactly the smell of an old, vintage suede or leather jacket that you've just buried your face into. The fabric is cold and unworn, sitting forgotten and alone in a dusty closet. It's certainly very strong and musky, and to be quite honest made me cough quite a bit, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do - it creates a very real immersive experience.

Overall, I wouldn't wear this, but I can't say it's bad either. It's simply a very unique smell that wasn't exactly really meant to smell pretty in the first place!

Modern interpretation of a vintage style

The opening of I'll Never Learn is so dry and new-car leathery that I was worried it wouldn't be wearable. However, once it dries down it's pretty easy to like, at least for me, and it's beautiful. The leather is definitely suede, the iris more rooty than powdery. The violet contributes a beautiful watercolor hazy feeling, while bergamot offers some cool freshness and keeps the whole thing from feeling too delicate. There's hardly any sweetness in this, which may be part of what gives it a "vintage" feeling along with its chypre structure. This perfume doesn't necessarily remind me of heartbreak, but I get how it fits the inspiration. There is something wistful and nostalgic about it, and it seems to reference the melancholy classic, Après L'Ondée Eau de Toilette. It also reminds me a bit of Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum, a modern leather chypre that is sadly discontinued. If you love this style of perfume, I'll Never Learn is certainly worth a try.
