Zigzagging Sphere Lightening
No, "Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV" is not a lightening but zigzagging anyhow in it's developement.
"Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV" is a wonderful scent for those who love perfumes with gardenia, tuberose, lillies, tiare, frangipani.
Though I had testet this perfume some weeks ago and noticed something negatively I now changed my mind. Again it seemed I had a bad sample of it.
Now I tested the fresh sample like usually, without taking a look into the page of the current scent I'm testing .
The start of "Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV" was slightly sharp, well this is obviously galbanum. And it smells soft-green.
And then I was smelling immediately tuberose, gardenia, tiare, lilly, creamy and delightfull. It remembers me similar to "Gardenia" by Chanel or "Do Son" by Dyptique. For some hours it is a wonderful sillage on me and around me. I' am really excited by Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV". I doubt that those maitresses had scented like this, when I remember all the reports and all which I have read about that time.
However, maybe they would had wanted to smell like this to impress Louis XIV.
And in this case there will have been some very young male "amanti" who had been liking it too .
But after about 4 hours there is only a faint whiff of flowers, something waxy left of "Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV".
What a pity I thought.
But though, it is a wonderfull perfume I thought too.
But then a heavy thunderstorm was going down here and I switched down my pc.
I opened some windows, watched the flashes. At the moment I intended to step on our terrace I saw a small sphere-flash zigzagging very strange one meter over our terrace an raising while vanishing. I was really frightened because I have never experienced a sphere lightening before. I was convinced that poeple alway had pretended such phenomenon.
When I stayed still excited and with a certain fear I perceived again almost as strong as before"Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV" percolating from my wrist like I have described above.
This was obviously caused by the little shock. Now it's still around me and on my skin.
If would not yet own "Gardenia" and "Do Son" I would put "Les Maîtresses de Louis XIV / The Mistresses of Louis XIV" on my wish list.

Completely Floral!
I find overly floral scents to be an abomination. The more flowery, the more it reminds me of grandmas, I think. I will probably lose my last 2 friends at Parfumo with this opinion, but I am being honest. Of course, there are a few floral fragrances that are exceptions: À la Nuit by Serge Lutens, one or two non-rosy rose scents, a few violet pastilles, or iris powder puffs.
But having already become half a fan of other fine perfumes by Roméa d'Améor, I sought out the mistresses of the Sun King. High expectations! I could already see lascivious little Marie Antoinette doubles (something like Madonna at her legendary MTV Awards performance of "Vogue," when numerous well-built gentlemen had a rendezvous under her hoop skirt...), who would perfume themselves in an extravagant manner and apply makeup with delight. But nothing of the sort.
No Boudoir by Vivienne Westwood, no lustful 2nd Dianne Brill-like porn scent. Quite the opposite.
While the top note still promisingly reminded me of À la Nuit, with generous amounts of jasmine, transitioning into a lily of the valley that has been washed (not a small bell, more like a monster such as the Fat Peter in Cologne Cathedral), the scent increasingly transforms into a lily orgy, waxy-stinging, green-green, and flowery-flower-flower.
Sexy? Not in the slightest. It has more of an effect on me like an anaphrodisiac. So not me.
If someone wants to smell fresh like young May, be my guest.

That Hussy Smells Like Lily of the Valley!
Judging by the name, I would have expected a cloying vanilla bomb with amber and opoponax.
But it’s not.
The opening is lush, floral, almost suffocating, because floral scents always take my breath away.
After a while, the fragrance develops into a bouquet of lily of the valley. At least these pretty little flowers prevail on my skin.
There were already plenty of lily of the valley notes in Diorissimo, but I like this one better because it doesn’t take as long to become pleasant.
The mistress develops a slightly creamy undertone with subtle green accents.
Really lovely and very feminine.

Lily of the Valley, White Skirt, why do you ring so loud....
If the mistresses of Louis XIV really smelled like this, he must have lost his desire for pleasure!

My first impression is green and fresh, like freshly cut grass. Then one lily of the valley after another grows from the earth and pushes its flowers high into the air. At some point, they reach field strength and I start gasping for breath. Because this field strength does not smell as fine and soft as the lily of the valley does directly in the forest when they fill the space under the trees as far as the eye can see. No, it smells as if these lilies of the valley were mixed with something fruity and watery.

Honestly, when I think of the mistresses of Louis XIV, I think more of amber and musk, roses and jasmine, heavy and opulent and very erotically animalistic. Why Roméa d'Améor has chosen to let lilies of the valley ring in this combination is a mystery to me. Especially this lily of the valley-aquatic fruit combination makes it almost impossible for me to endure the scent, let alone wear it.

No, this is not for rose lovers. And certainly not for Louis XIV!

For Ladies and Mistresses.
This fragrance starts off with a lush floral scent that feels very old-fashioned. I have the impression that clove is present in the top note. Because with perfumes that contain cloves, there is almost always a dull note involved.
But apparently, Roméa d'Améor is always good for a surprise, as there is a lovely development here as well.

Shortly after the top note, the heaviness disappears and the fragrance becomes wonderfully floral.

It remains strongly floral all the way to the base, where the powderiness emerges.
There is also a green and fresh note that fits very well into the overall concept.

This fragrance is very present and caresses the nose favorably. And somehow, it also suits mistresses.*lol*
Or ladies who are not quite so young anymore. It is a mature fragrance with which a woman can shine.
Perfect for going out.

Lily of the valley with a pronounced floral greenness. A scent for young girls? Not at all. The dirty note gives this otherwise innocent floral fragrance a certain something.

Mme de Montespan has overdone it with lily and lily of the valley, Louis XIV wrinkles his nose and cancels the liaison due to a migraine.

The top note is really great thanks to the galbanum, but the rest gets overshadowed by the lily of the valley, making it all a bit too sentimental.

Indolmaîtressen. That was completely normal in the time of Louis XIV. People didn't wash because they were afraid of water.
