Marvin Gaye's Smooth Soul
Geez, Iceberg Man is so smooth, stylish, and romantic as Marvin Gaye's quiet soul! It is a kind of like leathery scent with hints of pepper, tar, coffee, light tobacco, and so forth, while not smelling like any of them. I am meditating on the interplay of citrus, spicy and floral notes. They gradually yield a massive patchouli base warmed by creamy amber here enriched with resinous constituent elements of benzoin cistus and styrax. For Shalimar Eau de Parfum and Héritage Eau de Toilette lovers, this could be the pinnacle of his expression.

It has a beautiful opening that comprises lemon and nutmeg goodness, though I don't get too much zestiness from the lemon. It tingles and sparkles like light brown amber crystals, with a soft touch of mild pepper that makes the scent sharper, spicier, and edgier.

Not long after the initial opening, the light spicy aroma warms as a wonderful creaminess smooths out the sparkle. Here it comes, the tricky part. Cistus, labdanum, and rock rose. Some people think it must be the smell of heaven, and others believe it's the smell from hell. The rock rose is deep, diffusive, musky, and sweet balsamic reminiscent of true labdanum, with a dry, warm, earthy, herbaceous undertone. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest. And just a pinch of lavender, not all too much.

Anyhow, if you wear Iceberg Man and wait about 3 hours after application when most of the sweet notes have faded and the slightly leathery, woody base is prominent, that's mostly labdanum. There is a hint of patchouli and styrax, which combined gives a kind of dark chocolate-like tone, but most of the woody and thick, resinous, syrupy, or tar-like notes are primarily thanks to labdanum.

In the base, eventually, the perfume moves away from the enjoyably edible and takes on a more traditional amber and powder tone. Benzoin and styrax control the stage, and they are mixed stupendously. Iceberg Man feels as if it should be bulky and hefty, but it remains restrained and contained. In the end, Iceberg Man endures an amber hue of masculinity wrapped up in gentle sophistication.

It is the second time I'm wearing Iceberg Man. The first was a night out for attending an event, and I got tons of compliments, this time at the office. The sillage is moderate and close to my arms, which is pretty good for co-workers. Still, the longevity is ridiculously incredible, 12 hours, I would bet, seriously. I prefer wearing Iceberg Man in cold weather. The richness in spices, resins, and woods makes this cologne ideal for fall days and evenings out. So hardest days and nights, Fall, Winter, and early Spring. Warm, welcoming, slightly sweet but not at all cloying. Definitely a hidden gem of a fragrance if there ever was one. Genderless, in my opinion, the amber character makes it neither too masculine nor too feminine. Safe blind buys if you are fond of amber family, and Coromandel Eau de Toilette is in your collection, dreams, or wish list.

In a few words, Iceberg Man is calming, warm, sensual, deep, and uplifting. I love it; a stunning fragrance. Beautifully woody, dry, warm sophistication with a perfect, never pushy yet long-lasting performance. It lingers and pleases the wearer for the entire day and leaves a trail of masterfully blended bright, humorous and vibrant aura. It can remind you of others' fragrances; people compare it to Lui Rochas, which I am unaware of, yes, but no comparison here because this one exceeds and supersedes them all. Bravo Iceberg!! I've ordered a tester backup online before it gets discontinued.

This review bases on a 100ml (3.4 Fl. oz) bottle I have owned since November 2016.

An Elegant Gentleman in Rome
Iceberg Man it is truly a well blended and elegant scent. To my nose it recalls Tom Ford Noir and Prada Amber pour Homme Intense. So we are talking about something refined and enveloping. the bottle is beautiful, the juice is amber in color It makes you understand the type of fragrance. Woody, dusty, slightly bitter, resinous, a little spicy of pepper. In the background the warm and reassuring amber. It is a mature perfume. Another example of how cheap perfumes can also be good and interesting beyond the price. I paid 16 euros, included Shipping, for 100 ml. I think you can't expect more!

The Amber Garnet
Something nice from Iceberg. The 80s women's fragrance in the funky star-shaped bottle appeals to me very much. I found the men's fragrances to be quite okay so far, without any of them really knocking my socks off.

"Iceberg Man" manages to do that to some extent. Very elegant and perfect for the cold season now, but also quite monotonous in its scent impression. Cistus, amber, and benzoin seem to be firing off a vanilla amber cloud from all directions. The other notes barely seem to stand a chance against it. A woody hint, maybe a bit of nutmeg. But above all, the dense amber-vanilla cloud reigns supreme.

An elegant companion for winter. Straightforward but good. Longevity and sillage are in the upper middle range. On offer at the "red R" for a bargain price. Definitely a gem in the drugstore segment.

Iceberg in the Warmth
I flow away. What ice and where to put it? Does it destroy itself?

ICEBERG is an inappropriate name for so much warmth. So much expression. So many components. The poles are melting. Here, at least, without danger. No Titanic.

The scent merges with space and time.

What remains are the outstanding components. Sensitive fine citrus notes blend with delicate colorful pepper, other spices join in. Nutmeg veils float through the space. They settle down. Timeless. Sensitive. Grated nutmeg merges with noble lavender blossoms, next to it stands a rose, already somewhat faded. It bows its head, beside it lie lumps of styrax resin and small patchouli flowers exude their flair....

What a mixture... My heart will go on (and on... )

I dream. Lilac gentle perfection mixed with old rose hues. Like a painting. Amber and bitter woods unite, complementing each other in an oriental noble way.

There is no ice to be found anywhere. Everything is benevolent, everything melts.

ICEBERG in LOVE. No one has to sink or die. Everyone will survive. This time.

So will I. This combination is indescribable, take my breath away.

Sensual ice.

Scent chalice !!

This is Rochas Lui
Funny, two months ago I sold my Rochas Lui Rest because I didn't use it that often and it still had 80% left, and now almost the same scent comes out again but disguised as Iceberg Man. That's what happens when you find the price so attractive and then take a quick look here and order online. But I really didn't expect this with Rochas Lui. Unfortunately, it is also not clear who the perfumer was. But it doesn't matter. For everyone who didn't have the chance to try Lui.

There are certainly plenty of other perfumes that go in this direction, like Potion by Dsquared. A classic spicy-citrus and somewhat whiskey-like scent. Slightly soapy and less sweet than Lui. The longevity seems to be quite okay, but I find the projection not so great so far. For in-between, during the day, now that it's getting cold again, a bit of Lui feeling. YES.

Elegant, balsamic, cozy, sweet. A nice amber with a fresh and spicy opening and a relaxing drydown with lavender, sandalwood and labdanum.

Opens identical to Bentley For Men without the cedar; becomes the shy little brother of TF's Noir without the florals. Base-heavy stuff.

Great cologne. Reminds me of dior homme intense but more wearable, less classy. $17 steal would buy again but does not replace homme intense

The caressing labdanum conjures a weightless blend of vibrant spice, balsamic-resinous warmth, velvety creaminess, and aromatic wood notes!

CH Men Privé and Cavalli Uomo La Notte are office-friendly. Leather, boozy, amber. Distinctive, not old school. Great value. Go for it, guys!

Definitely an EDP rather than an EDT! ICEBERG shows that a good scent with long-lasting power doesn't always have to be expensive! Clear recommendation!

Beautiful sweet-spicy scent that doesn't get sticky at all. It has structure, masculinity, warmth, a hint of oriental, later ambery.....

Who says it has to be expensive?
This scent is on par with pricier perfumes and shows how it's done right.

A prime example that a good scent doesn't have to start at €150.
Delicately powdery-spicy, a touch of sweetness, and WONDERful for fall/winter.
