Gray-Cold-Days Pick-Me-Up!
I came across this fragrance almost like "the virgin to the child" when a friend from the Netherlands brought it to me. Just like that, as a "little Nikolaus" instead of sweets.
Today, I’m taking a proper sniff of it. And I’m quite pleasantly surprised! Since I know the "Sun (Eau de Toilette) | Jil Sander," which I had but found too sweet and heavy, and swapped it out, this one immediately came to mind, as the "Beach Party" bears a strong resemblance to it. However, this one fortunately lacks one thing: that oppressive aura reminiscent of sultry summer days. It is more akin to moderately warm, clear early summer days, when a pleasantly cool breeze is blowing.
A blend of citrus fruits, osmanthus, fresh flowers, fine woods, and a hint of vanilla lifts the mood without being overwhelming. Especially on foggy, dreary winter days, this can work wonders. Creating a very pleasant "summer feeling," the "Beach Party" convinces me much more than the "original" ever could. My nose and my spirit find what is sometimes missed: sunny, soothing, subtle, and creamy-powdery cheerfulness! ;-))

SUN's little sister
I went on a trip to the neighboring Netherlands with my best friend. It's not far from us and takes about 90 minutes by train. No worries about parking, no stress, and no transfers needed. In the first class where we sat, it got busier from Düsseldorf onwards, and from Viersen, the atmosphere was almost like Carnival. Everyone wanted to buy all sorts of things in Venlo and were surprised that we "only" wanted to take photos.

Then a nice lady sat next to me, and her scent was simply amazing. Otherwise rather reserved, I asked her about the fragrance. It reminded me a lot of SUN by Jil Sander, but still something different. As a nice reply, I got "Beach Party" from Coscentra. I was initially taken aback. This brand is only available at a bargain price here in discount stores. In our neighboring country, where the company is based, it is priced higher and enjoys a good reputation, similar to the brand Real Time, and is as popular there as a good drugstore scent is here. I was also given the address in Venlo where the lady bought the fragrance. I found that very nice. Beach Party seems to be out of stock in Germany at the moment. Coscentra fragrances cost around 10-12 euros per bottle in the Netherlands. Anything below that is more than a bargain.

The store, a supermarket! with a large drugstore section, was then also targeted. A whole wall full of fragrances from the brands Coscentra, Real Time, and another Dutch brand. Very clearly arranged, and a comparison to the expensive relatives in Germany was included. An Eldorado for the international ladies' world. There, a nice Dutch woman also recommended the brand to me. A small spray, and my heterosexual companion was already making himself scarce. He was drawn to licorice and similar treats.

For the price of 5.95 euros (100 ml), three fragrances went straight into my shopping basket. Two more that I was still considering in Venlo, I bought here in Germany for 2.95 euros. But more on that later.

When you think of the term Beach Party, you think of a certain freshness. But the scent is quite different from fresh. It started for me with bergamot, lemon, and fruits. Along with a dose reminiscent of hairspray from the 60s, which quickly faded away. Then came a floral aspect. There, however, I smelled ylang-ylang, heliotrope, garden carnation, and a little rose. Pure summer for me and rounded in itself. Then, as a base, benzoin, sandalwood (which I really like), tonka bean, and vanilla. Together with the fresh floral scents, it’s a successful combination. A bit reminiscent of sunscreen from the 70s and slightly leaning towards floral oriental. Over time, the fragrance became softer and cozier without appearing artificial. Very similar to SUN by Jil Sander, but not as harsh and overwhelming. More rounded and pleasing. For me, the better fragrance.

The bottle is functionally sober, practical, and bulky. It bears a strong resemblance to SUN for men by Jil Sander.

On the return train journey, a nice young family boarded. They were US citizens, and the mother kept sniffing and was really encouraging her husband to try SUN. Since five hours had passed between my test and the return journey, that says a lot about the longevity. Overall, six hours, and you can't complain about that.

Beach Party is a fragrance for October to April. After that, it should be used sparingly to avoid scenting an entire train with it. I would gladly buy it again because it appeals to me more than SUN, despite all its similarities.

actually a dupe but visually not so blatant anymore
At the beginning of the week, I stumbled upon it at a clothing discount store. Indeed, the first test reminds me of Sun, and since I am a vanilla fan anyway and the price is unbeatable, it is now part of my collection. The bottle looks a bit different now, the longevity at cooler temperatures isn't great, but I am still very happy with it.

Daring? Of course. Well stolen? Absolutely! A bit less longevity + sillage than the original, but otherwise 1:1. I love (and stash) it.

If you love Jil Sander's "Sun," you'll be perfectly satisfied with Beach Party. Floral sweetness with a slightly powdery creaminess => luxury sunscreen.

Stronger sillage than the original, but lasts only 3 hours. Vanilla-floral and sweet sunscreen. Great for winter temperatures, I think.

It leans towards Sun Vintage. The current skeletal Sun could easily be discontinued. Beach Party smells of joy and happiness.

A bit of an old-fashioned beach party in my opinion. Similar to Sun, osmanthus-heavy and powdery. Not for bright sunshine, as it can cause headaches.
