If Amber is the Color of Your Energy

For many years I have been intimidated by any overt Amber fragrances. Something between a headache and Fear has held me back from exploring them in any great detail. Perhaps, I just don't have the chops for it. But when I came upon this cute little display of solid perfume pots in the middle of my grocery shopping, I totally forgot about the kale and cat food I came for. Whether you are a bonafide Amber Connesieur or as shy amber dabbler, like myself, this Amber is a good starting point to build a great base layer. In the solid perfume form it doesn't project very much but with the natural oils, the pores of the skin drink it up and invite it in like Edward from the Twilight series. This subtle Amber absolute glistens (not literally-no sparkles here) but to my nose-dances on the skin like a Cullen in the sunshine, warming it with a mystical glow. A golden and ancient resin perfectly suited for a high school romance, yet generally 'glamoring' and appealing to all ages. I tried several of the Soap & Paper Factory line, but this was one of only two that I couldn't stop thinking about and eventually went back for later. This is a beautiful soft base layer after a long hot bath and wearing it I feel like I just bathed in a tub of 25 year old handcrafted Cognac. It is slightly spicy, woody resinous with hints of vanilla but also a little bit soapy and slightly sweet- but not over the top... which is all rather unexpected to my nose for Amber. This is perfectly unisex-for a gentleman, I would suggest you consider layering with their "Balsamic Fig" solid (which has notes of Fir, Green Fig, and Citrus). Amber Absolute has a lovely little bit of sensual Sandalwood and Cedarwood oil in the base which pairs nicely with "Midnight" solid for the ladies, with notes of Jasmine, Tuberose, Citrus. It last about 6 hours, but as a very subtle skin scent, only detectable during a hug. The whole line from the Soap & Paper Factory is meant to be mixed and matched to create a unique signature scent. They are fun, portable and economically, but not cheaply made. Personally, I layer this with their "Spiced Orange" solid which provides a bit of Neroli, Orange, and Anisette and Clove on my skin, leaving me feeling very warm and cozy like a spiced fruit cake straight from the oven. Yummy!
