Wood Salt Beach Tamburins 2023

Tested this in-store in Seoul and it was love at first sniff. As a perfume newbie, I've gone through 15 samples/decants of popular scents recommended for women, but found myself bored or sick of them after a week's worth of wear. I had been looking for a signature scent since my fragrance journey began 2 years ago, and never thought that I'd chance upon this!

My concept of what notes I thought was "appropriate" for my age (mid 20s) and gender was wiped out. This scent alone has ignited my obsession with all things woody, spicy, sexy. It's not intimidating to wear, and it's smooth enough not to offend if you're heavy handed. I'll leave the scent description to the experts, as all I can say is that I absolutely adore it at every stage.

That being said, the longevity leaves more to be desired for, especially because it is such a gorgeous scent from the opening till dry down. After 2-4 sprays at 7am, I find it becoming barely detectable at 2pm. YYMV, but I live in a tropical humid country.

Luckily though, I have myself both the full size and cute egg perfume that I can carry around to make myself happy with an extra spritz mid-day!

As i have explained in my Salty Vanilla review, i Tamburins I discovered Tamburins while travelling to South Korea. Wood Salt Beach is another Scent of the latest collection that released late in 2023.

Although at first I wasn‘t too intrigued by the Scent, thinking that it was nice and pleasant and probably the easiest to wear the 2023 collection. I bought it simply because it was my favourite among the Egg Perfume line with its unique presentation.
After returning from my trip I started using it more often daily and found myself always reaching for it. That was when I took a better look at the notes and understand what I liked about it.

The scent itself doesn‘t really seem unique at first glance, particularly because its name also suggest that it has similarities to Jo Malone‘s Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I believe however it has only similarities in the vibes it gives rather than actually being a dupe. Where the Jo Malone is significantly sweeter and the sage is really pronounced, this one is more focused on it‘s woodiness.

It starts of quite refreshing with ample marine notes at the top with the usuall sirus that comes with it but never gets too rindy. It late dries down to a much more woody scent with a hint of sage. This is where i find the Rosewood to shine since it creates such a warm slightly ambery dry down. I suspect as well that the Gurjun Balsam also plays a role, giving the dry down a very aromatic, calming scent.

Overall this scent really surprised me and is one i will reach for often, especially when i want something calming yet somehow also refreshing. It is definitely a scent that one should wear a couple times before making one’s mind up about it.
