Walking along a beach shore all by myself
I will say that although I truly did enjoy this fragrance, I have to admit I pondered on if this scent would be better as a room mist or in a diffuser. I'm not sure I'd want to wear it on me daily due to its VERY fragile nature and evanescent performance. The price is also pretty steep, even for a cologne. I do get why it's beloved by many and I agree it's a staple in the blue fragrance family.

A fragrance that conjures beautiful images of relaxation and vacation; like taking a walk by the sea. I sense a citrusy top note even though it's not listed anywhere, soon followed by a sweet, but salty skin type of scent. Drydown becomes a bit more herbal and aromatic due to the sage, but it overall stays true to its name. It has a certain warmth to it I wasn't expecting, but also remains fresh and uplifting at the same time.

A steep price and abyssmal performance (both for the sillage and longevity on skin) is why it won't be making it into my collection. I do agree thoguh that it's a very pretty fragrance and in aromatherapy, smelling this one would make me want to relax and enjoy myself by taking a walk along the beach shore.

Not exactly as expected
Let's go down the line. Parfumo says the top note is ambrette seeds. If I Google that, it's all over the map: "sweet, musky, animalic, often fruity or nutty, soft, warm, sensual, powdery, floral or woody."
Well, after wearing it a while (not too long, because it really doesn't last, hubby answered my request to describe what he smelled with, "I smell sexy." Ha, that covers some of those words. I also thought it smelled kind of sweet on him. On me, it started out with a fresh, citrusy-slightly spicy, almost after-shavey vibe, but I'm a woman and don't need to smell like I put on aftershave.
The main, very loud and aggressive note not listed in that top note is citrus. To us it smelled orangey, maybe mandarin, tangerine, or blood orange. But on another site, it claimed grapefruit. Must have been pink grapefruit, because it was very dark and fruity, not the sour bitter kind of grapefruit.
Then Parfumo says the heart notes are mineral notes and sea salt. I did not smell as much "sea salt" as expected. I did detect a woody scent. Let's call that "driftwood".
Then they said the dry down was sage. I barely smelled sage, if at all. It did dry down to a fresh scent, but for me it could almost have been the kind of scent named "linen" if it was an air freshener or laundry product. All those are lab-made molecules except possibly the grapefruit (one of the cheapest and most easily available essential oils). Not bad smelling, but ask yourself if the expense is worth it. The dry down reminded me of several of my Phlur samples, which cost less and last longer. My JHAG Not a perfume also lasts much longer and seems to a have a similar "skin scent". Have to get up close to smell it, and it smells different on different people.

Weekend in the Hamptons
This fragrance is an amazing unisex scent. It combines minerals, spice & aquatics & some how makes it classy.
.
I also, for the life of me, will not understand why everyone says it has weak performance. This fragrance isn't NUCLEAR but it doesn't make it weak. I put it on today at 12:30pm. & we're going towards 4:30, & it's still very present on my skin. It may last longer on the skin than the cloths but I'd have to test that theory.
For instance, I put it on today & layered it/combined it somewhat with Kilian Vodka on the Rocks. & I gave both their own top of my hand spray. Kilian on the left hand & Jo Malone on the right hand. & here we are 4 hours later, the Wood Sage & sea salt very much present on My hands, was catching whiffs of it until about 30mins ago. Which means it projected for about 2-3 hours, to some degree. The Vodka on the rocks, I can still smell on my hand but it is much more faint & a tad harder to pick up thoroughly. I also stopped catching whiffs of it about an hour or two ago. It projected for about an hour or so.
I bring this up because on this site, Vodka on the Rocks is said to have better longevity than this fragrance & I disagree, at least for the day time. & this isn't the first time I've thought that.
.
The musky dry down on this fragrance is wonderful & a lot of people think it leans slightly more feminine but I think it's pretty 50-50. It works for a man with confidence too & it's a great situational fragrance. Summer vacation, a weekend get away to Nantucket or a "all white" outfit party in the Hamptons. Could even work for a day time wedding. Enjoy this in summer/spring even maybe a nice, easy fall day.
.
It's Saturday afternoon in a bottle for those memorable days

Jo Malone Wood sage & sea salt
Wood Sage & Sea Salt is a breezy, elegant escape to windswept shores and salty cliffs. The marine accord blends effortlessly with mineral rich sea salt and earthy sage, evoking the feeling of ocean air and untamed nature. It's fresh yet grounding, clean yet warm, perfect for those who crave a scent that feels both effortless and sophisticated. A coastal retreat in a bottle.

Northern beach scent
This is a great beach scent, depicting definitely northern windy coastal weather rather than sunny beaches. As a lover of gloomy weather, I really appreciate this scent. Most so-called "beach scents" are just headache-inducing cheap "ocean-scented" car fresheners to me. Not this one. What I generally love about Jo Malone fragrances, is how toned down they are. None of the scents I tried are overpowering, they are all peaceful and pleasant, suitable for everyday wear. What I also appreciate about Jo Malone scents is that even my untrained nose can tell the notes apart, yet they are also very well blended. Do I wish it lasted longer? Sure. But I love it nonetheless.

Pleasant Cologne, fresh and sweet at the same time, minimally aquatic and moderately creamy. All notes in harmony. Sillage close to the skin

Really nice fruity salty sweet smell, that unfortunately has the performance of a rack store cheap fragrance.

great for layering, or by itself as a fresh scent.

Fresh without being too aquatic, with a gentle sweetness on me. It's a cologne, so its strength isn't great, but I deal because I love it.

An extremely easy ocean scent - think that post-beach dip when your skin is speckled with sand and salt. There's some body underneath.

A cool, misty breeze of sea salt, sweet sage, and slight iodine sharpness—evoking true seawater, yet fades as quickly as the wind changes.

Could barely smell anything. Kind of smelled like chalk? Lightly sweet chalk? Went away with minutes

Epitomizes Jo Malone's perfume for people who dislike perfume style. Inoffensive but pointless

This smells like d&g light blue to me. Very citrusy- which is not something I gravitate towards often.
