Interesting Fumes
This is a joint review of Tumi's Awaken and Awaken Distilled, which I tested on consecutive days. Awaken opened with an unusual scent that seemed more fruity to me than citrus-y. This was joined as the mid and base notes appeared by an interesting woody - resinous - conifer scent. The overall effect was somewhat medicinal, almost menthol (e.g. Vicks Vaporub) in character. The scent seemed to be pretty versatile, for any season. It wasn't overly fresh to be considered only good for summer but it wasn't overly heavy for cold weather either. Longevity was pretty good - got about 8 and half to 9 hours out of it. Projection was more moderate.
Tumi's web page states that Awaken Distilled "is an intensified version of our original AWAKEN [08:00 GMT]. The woodsy citrus scent is a bold blend of Italian mandarin, bergamot, black lavender, amberwood, patchouli and cedarwood." "Woody citrus scent" is a good description. While similar to Awaken, Awaken distilled was more citrus-y and less fruity, while being a more pronounced woody scent with significantly less of the medicinal or mentholated character that Awaken displayed. Longevity and projection were about the same for me as Awaken.
My personal preference would be for Awaken Distilled because of the reduced medicinal character.
