The foundation stone and an unexpressed love of father and son
La Nuit de L'homme, for some it is only a hyped scent, for me it is my first great love and the beginning of a never ending story, an indescribable passion.
This was the beginning of EVERYTHING! It is the cornerstone of my passion for fragrances.
I still remember when I smelled him for the first time at my father, approx. 16 I was at this time. Oh God, I was overwhelmed! this lavender, the cardamom, a sexy, complex, sweet mysterious scent got into my nose. A 2009 bottle.
For me it was immediately clear, on my next date I'm going to look for the bottle in my parents bedroom.
And so it happened, too. I can remember the countless times I reached for the wonderful bottle to fragrance myself beautifully before I left the house. My date became my girlfriend and with certainty she still associates this fragrance with me today.
When I was 18, I finally bought my own bottle and got a backup bottle of the 2012 collector edition. It was still one of my favorite scents, but the magic somehow diminished with the years.
I never told my father how well he smelled and how much I like his scent. To make up for this, I gave him my full Collector Edition a year ago, because I knew that his 2009 is now empty and he did not buy the new version due to reformulations.
For me this gesture was a way to thank him, because for me personally it was not just a gift. I thanked him from the bottom of my heart and brought him back a piece of "us" and praised him at that moment for his excellent taste.
He doesn't know what this gesture meant to me, one day I might tell him.
La Nuit you are a masterpiece for me like no other fragrance! What you once were is a life story for me, you embody moments that I will take with me to my grave.
This may sound crazy but of all the scents I will take this one to my grave!
