My Mother Is Ill

Hi all,

I've had to go to South Carolina because my mother is ill in hospital. She'll have been in here a week tomorrow. She came in with pneumonia and bladder and ear infections. Later, we found out she has late stage COPD and a "sepsis like condition". She's on oxygen and has a feeding tube. Please, if you believe in prayer or positive thoughts, I'd appreciate if you could direct those to her.

Hello everyone,

Mom got to come home today. I'm so happy, but I realize how tired I am now. (I know she is too.) Thanks for all of the prayers, positive thoughts and kindness.

Hugs right back at you, Cincy.

Love,
Amy

Hi everyone,

Mom made a real step backward the other day, but she's back to improving. She may have to go to a nursing home for rehab, but hopefully she'll get to go home after that.

Thanks to all of you,
Amy

Amy,so glad to hear your good news of your mothers improvement. Yes,Greenwood is way up north from me. I was hoping you were around this area where I may be of some help. Keep us updated when you find time. As you can see we care about you. Hugs

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm truly touched. We're in Greenwood, Cincy, so we're not really close.

Mom is eating, though she still has a feeding tube. She knows who people are, but the docs aren't very hopeful, but as long as she's here, I'm hopeful. She's a tough broad.

Love,
Amy

That's what we like to hear. :) Anyone who would drop everything and travel a great distance to be there for her sick mother deserves a pat on the back and whatever moral support I can offer.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers. She's doing a bit better. She's talking, but she isn't calling anyone by name. I'm hoping that improves. She may get to leave Intensive Care soon. I'm staying positive band taking things one day at a time. She's very feisty, and I know she's lived through several things that could've killed her. I know no one knows me very well here, so thanks for caring.

Dear Amy, your mother might be stronger than the doctors believe. Positive thinking and prayers do help - I am convinced of that. I don't know your mother's age or case history, but coming from a family of doctors, I know that you often see miraculous recoveries in patients. "Sepsis like condition" sounds awful, but people cope. "Last stage of COPD" sounds frightening, but does by no means imply someone could not live with it. Encourage your mother and never give up. Wishing her all the very best and thinking of you, Jalé
