on of the better jinxes for me
The opening mix of sweet and spicy in harmony actually very pleasent and nice coniferous greenery. loaded with animalic but tamed by other aspects of the scent. castoreum and musk being both very noticable ambergris and civet not so much for me.
the birch tar softens the animalics and makes them less in your face kinda animalics with is good. this would go wild if the animalic were not tamed down with other aspects.
Its not purely sweet spicy and animalic. there is the sandalwood also makeing it bit creamy with the vanilla and adding that nice little touch of woodiness to it that definetly benefits the composition. would also say its bit earthy atleast i get some hints of earthy aspects.
Cousin to midwinter dreams but the cousin is bit weird.
No doubt this shares the DNA of midwinter dream and its very similar but has the difference to it but not so much i think you need to own both of them.
The ice wine from MWD is there and i love it but it has added blueberry to it that makes this one more fruity than MWD but its also bit messy. in combination with the generous amount of orris it becomes very creamy and powdery also bit messy like the weird cousin we all have you were forced to play with as a child when they came to visit. the oud is also there but to me less oud than on MWD. its nice but its not something i would need to own even more so when price is factored.
Personally even thoe this shares the aspects i loved about MWD this dont make me feel at all same as MWD did. it was miles better for me and i would pick it over this anytime.
The sweet hyrex
Leathery, leathery and leathery. its the core of this scent. Hyraceum being the undoubted star her the distinctive leathery smell you get from hyraceum. Animalic leather miles different from castoreum leathery smell. Its mixed with florals violet and orris giving it bit purple nuance. Its also bit sweet and i assume vanilla and cacao do this but they are not prominent to me at all. on the other hand shroom is one note thats mixed nicely into the resinous animalic leather floral mix.
This may not be for everyone looking for animalic leather scent. whilst it is that its very different than typical animalic leather scents. id still recommend trying this if you dare and are curious.
The performance on this one is insanely good.
For the brave and wild ones
Oh boy is it good. but just how good ? if you like the general idea of animalic parfum its at very top in terms of what you can get. is it harsh ? not really, but still super animalic.
The back bone of this scent is chinese oud and its very generously dosed. This is clear from the start the second thing i notice is heavenly malty and spicy musk. Its not harsh musk like siberian musk is but rather that same lovely mongolian musk im familiar well from mongolian musk by ensar oud wich is my all time favourites from the house.
Other animalics are also playing part in this scent very well. beewax giving this waxy and bit sticky feel to it. castoreum and hyraceum giving it noticable leathery smell leaning more to castoreum than hyraceum. one thing i also notice is the black currant its very quick in and out but at the start its very noticable and for second i get that fruity nuance but this is very short lived.
In terms of animalic parfumery this is very well done and if you are someone who enjoys good amount of animalics that are noticable and dont ask permission to be preasent i highly recommend sampling this or heck if you are offered bottle and can afford it go for it.
Green as bright jade
Truely a magnificent scent. From the start you get very nice tea mainly green mixed with 7 different roses. Non of them being the most prominent rather they live in this harmony and being blended together nicely everyone serving a purpose. also from the start the star (at least to me) of this scent Hainan oud being preasent. Its very green hainan oud not much of the earthy quality atleast for me on this mix. Its supported my the amazing tea and roses to being most beautiful green oud i have tried.
on the drydown the tea is left behaind and greenery comes from the star. Hainan oud roses being much more soft and turned into more oriental.
Its like you are being transported from hainan to somewhere distant lands with tea, roses, honey and some valuable hainan oud. all of them mixed on the air while you ride on your horse in the caravan stretching long before and after you.
