The pure beauty of the ugly
In the past, I have had the great luck and not least the joy of being able to test every single one of the zoologist fragrances at least once. I (therefore) also understand quite well the dichotomy between the fragrances and the often quite broadly diversified evaluations of the individual fragrances. They are all art, every single one is very unique and for me they are usually overwhelming at first.
Even with the four I have in my collection, I find them all great, but not all of them really portable.
My prime example for this is the Bat, which I composed magnificently in my nose. Dark, fascinating and as close to the theme as one can be. Nevertheless I never wear it, but rather enjoy the sight and the regular sniffing of the bottle.
I also like Rhinoceros incredibly much, but depending on the shape of the day and my mood he kills me.
In Macaque I feel good all the time.
Ever since the announcement, I've been really hot to get Moth under my nose. On the one hand because of the topic, on the other hand because I had promised myself at least once again something unwearable and great from Moth during the test smell.

Moth begins rough and impetuous with lots of pepper, nutmeg, cloves and saffron. And although I really don't like any of these spices except for the last one I mentioned, an amazingly harmonious and unpenetrating fragrance cloud formed immediately. (Thank God not the trace of cumin...)
After a few seconds, the spice of rose and other more bitter floral notes is reembedded and it seems a little sacral and (weih-)smoky. The pleasantly familiar smell of old wood pushes through. A real treat: sometimes dust-dry, sometimes resin-soaked.
Oud and blackest patchouli complete the head cinema; as if one were just strolling through a church garden covered in night fog. The smell of the rose hedges and the old church with the old wooden benches and the incense bell around you. And the moths circling before the full moon.
Once the scent has played itself in, it has an almost flattering effect, because the distantly perceptible scent of honey (I actually imagine smelling honey, too...) and the softest amber turn the whole thing away from the church garden and towards the impetuously beautiful butterfly flight.
Out of the crack in the old wood, through the church window over the cemetery garden and the wall.
Over grasses and woods through treetops. A stop to feast on the sweet plant sap and continue with an already elegant flapping of the wings. Gene moonlight.

If I had to choose any comparison I'd say Moth reminds me quite, gaaaanz away from Tom Ford's London. However, only for lack of a better comparison and then with a whole scoop of smoke more and a scoop of ornateness (in the most positive sense, because I like London very much) less. And plus really great honey, of which I (as far as I do not imagine it nevertheless) am quite enthusiastic.
In the course of writing the last section, it also occurred to me that I feel that "not being able to compare" is an additional strength of Moth (and the zoologist scents themselves).

Moth is a complete surprise to me. A truly grandiose and harmonious fragrance. Cool, enveloping, spicy, raw. In the later then all this paired with (not too much) sweetness and "powderiness" like finest wood chips.

Night Creature
Soft-tender, hairy winged beast
still you linger
safe in the sweetness
of a dull warm-spicy night
nestled among ancient dust and deep dark wood
sensual floral bouquet floating in the near distance
Just a hint of grounded and greened
Creature of the night that you are
yet intimately you're drawn
to the soft smoky
resinous golden honey-shimmering light.

We have to take the way to this fragrance through an unattractive synthetic door.
A nauseatingly artificial fragrance note that I know well but can neither name nor like opens the scent.
Thankfully, it hides shortly after and successfully pretends it was never there.
Now a somewhat dull skin muffle smell of cumin ,saffron and oud takes over the direction.
So there it is already, the animal. As so often I feel this constructed ,somewhat sweaty animalism on the one hand as slightly repulsive, on the other hand as fascinating. The animal does not come alone, but brings with it the smell of other delicate spices and flowers, which interact with each other and mix in such a way that individual ingredients can no longer really be smelled out by me.
A languid sensuality emanates from this fragrance.
Familiar and secure smells this animalic spicy woodiness on the one hand. Mysterious and dark joins the scent of the indeterminable, softly dimmed flowers. Sensually peel out of the background more and more resin and honey.

Late on a warm summer night. We have been sitting together for hours in the warm glow of the lamp. The window is open, from outside cool airs and night secrets blow into`s room.
The crickets are chirping. We are all already tired, but we talk, laugh, drink.
A dark, thick, hairy flying insect takes again and again vibrating course on the light bulb, the only light source in the room. Again and again it bounces hard off the lamp. But that doesn't stop the moth from repeating its kamikaze action anew.moths are best put quickly outside the door or window, they never learn. ;-)

The most delicious mothball in the world
Masterfully mothy! "Moth" starts dusty-penetrant and then quickly gets softer and sweeter - but no doubt still very "mothy". And in good. Theme fully hit!

Some wise previous speaker wrote to "Moth" I think something like "The gothic cousin of "Bee"" - and that's true! "Moth" is a delicate, almost somewhat baroque honey scent. Namely, the bee's secretion is interpreted here in a way I've never smelled before. Not even close. Dry, positively monotonous, cold. But then at its heart with more than enough warmth and love to like. The perfect scent for gaming "Hollow Knight" - indie gamers know! A body like a zombie - a soul like an elf.

Sillage: not everyone gets along with moths - therefore rather caution.
Durability: 8 hours powdery greyness

Conclusion: a dusty honey wing at the scales - and the strikes already after a few minutes extremely positive with me!

Ode to a darker time
Dark cellars, smoky corners, sluggish music. Melancholy impregnates the air in the room and at the bar there is absinthe and mead. We are in a Goth shed. The Cure is at the door with Bowie and Henke and the Sisters are also ready. The wine is flowing as well and the dresscode is not pronounced but is clearly dark black. Patchouli is subconsciously perceptible. Wafts of mist waft through the air and placebo play Song to say goodbye.

Is Moth a goodbye scent? Not at all. Moth is a sweet and spicy composition of the same Rose-Oud-combinations, which not only get on your nerves, but are also simply boring. He does right what many fail. He builds up tension that is held long enough that even after several hours the mysterious presence of a fleeting being can still be perceived with all its power.

I often read here that Moth is the dirty or dark version of Bee. The only relationship that I think the two have in common is the lightness of the scent, which is just about on the edge of gravity. So both representatives are border crossers, no doubt about it.
Especially the prelude is mercilessly breathtaking for both of them. But in different ways for both. Because where Bee is terribly sweet and causes imaginary toothache, Moth is so spicy that it seems almost artificial.
And when I first tasted the fragrance, I couldn't have been less thrilled. I found this Rose-Oud base just as I find similar representatives: already had it a dozen times and somehow not movingly special.
Then I watched an offer in the souk for over a week and thought 'fuck it!' and let the moth fly to the light.

Moth is a fragrance with a statement. For some people it is accordingly nothing for every day. For nostalgics of the black scene definitely an allrounder and for me - border crosser - the most successful composition with oud and rose, not only because of the beautiful twist with smoky-sweet undertone and massive spice influence.
However, those who find it difficult to complicate things will hardly be happy here.
I for one am very happy to have this fragrance in my collection.

You are the birth and you are waste
You are the one who took my place
You took a jump into forever
A leap of faith I could not take
Placebo - Ashtray heart

My Zoologist Perfumes Moth Review on YouTube
This is my Zoologist Perfumes Moth Review with Dalya. Moth by Zoologist Perfumes is one of the latest releases from this brand and I love it. Out of several fragrances from Zoologist Perfumes such as Camel and Elephant and also several impressions videos I have launched on the channel I find Moth to be quite beast mode. It’s big, it’s bold and it’s complex but dries down to a beautiful honeyed, powdery, floral fragrance. And the best parf of the fragrance is when it dries down. But be warned Moth is a big start. It’s loud and screechy as I mentioned in the video. It’s a who’s who of the spice cabinet and I love this part about the fragrance. It gives you a warning of what you’re going to experience with Moth but as previously mentioned it does dry down to a beautifully soft, fragile perfume just like the creature it’s inspired from. To find out more about Moth please watch my review on YouTube.

Initially heavily spicy, this slightly smoky, yet powdery floral-resinous Fall fragrance, settles to a warm musky-woody base. Unique! Unisex

It's official--saffron hates me. Moth is a gorgeous, complex creation, but saffron and my skin go to war every time I try to wear it. Boo :(
