One-spritz wonder
It's a little waxy and funky-sweet, which has a muted yet playful effect like being swiped by the edge of a long, coffin-shaped nail. Byrehoe is right to call it whimsigoth. Turkish delight: rose jam and a dusting of candy cane. Compared to my other fave rose/mint (ELDO's You Or Someone Like You) and Rafuse's current floral offerings, Rhapsody in Mauve has a shocking sillage and lasting power from just one spray to the clavicle. It persists on clothing very well. I prefer Rafuse's embalmed rose here to Lush's rose jam, which is very spicy and semi-vintage to my nose. Rhapsody in Mauve is kitschy but subdued.

Bohème with a trust fund
Chocolate and coffee dance around a spice-steeped peach. I can never smell the chocolate and the coffee at the same time. "Fruits of the sun" is an accurate description of the notes in this fragrance, but I cannot quite put my finger on what these fruits truly are... It has an old-fashioned base of patchouli and slight musk. Histoires' fragrances all have the almost-too-perfect composition pyramid that you would expect from a house like this. This was a blind buy for me and it smelled exactly as I imagined it would. Bright, sultry, at times moody and rebellious. The rose in this only takes swipes at you. Classier interpretation of the 60s compared to Karma by Lush.
